Up North Combine are at Bubwith West Durham Amalgamation and Durham Combine are at Wakefield Weather forecast for Saturday not so good - its either a North or North East wind with virtually full cloud cover all day Was going to send the lot - until I saw the forecast Basketing in 3 hours - so it's make your mind up time !!
-

-
I would send a transfer form into the Reddings - better to cost you £2 now than £35 to transport pigeons that don't belong to you because the rings are in your name
-
We have always had trouble getting youngsters to fly, as babies, just setting off - and have always left them to 'go when they're ready' and its always the same - we end up chasing them in the end and losing a dozen off the loft !! Well this year - it's totally different, just a few weeks out of the nest and they're flying round the loft Can't believe it

Help Please These İs Third Time One Egg
REDCHEQHEN replied to ZAFER DAL's topic in Help - What's wrong with my bird?
I have used medpet fertility tablets in the past - with success - but they are only 'vitamins' if they are that important - a visit to the vet for prescription fertility treatment is possible (but might be expensive) I think he means only laid one egg - not fertilized is definitely in the text ! -
There's plenty of posts on this subject - try a search Personally - there are that many over the counter wormers for pigeons - I wouldn't bother buying something that isn't for birds
-
Washington Celtic secretary is Gordon Braban 0191 417 7745 However -I would think it was someone's stockbird and it wouldn't surprise me if it was bred by Gordon Braban ! you might get some joy e mailing the NEHU nehu@nehu.co.uk

First race April 7th First training chuck this morning from 25 miles and 35 miles ('spares'team - 25 miles, roundabouts 35 miles) it was a late breds first training chuck, but he was in with the bunch (25 miles) There wasn't much wind here - but it didn't take them long to get home
-
were birds attacked in the air? I have not had a peregrine attack - ever (as far as I know) but there is a peregrine nest within 2 miles of my home - so half expecting one
-
I always thought men had a different sense of humour to women Now I KNOW they have It's not my idea of 'humour' sorry
-
One strike last Saturday - sparrowhawk - probably male (small)- no losses or injuries - 5 yearling cocks had to be coaxed out of a small space from behind the loft first strike for about 2 years

My mum is here with me today celebrating Mothers Day (we're going out for a Chinese !) at the grand old age of 86 - she had an emergency operation in December and it was touch and go - but she pulled through, her appetite in particular has improved greatly and she is off the supplements, and now also managing to walk with 2 sticks I am very lucky to still have her with me (my grateful thanks to Andy and Seona for their wonderful support over this time - and over the last 2 and a half years)
-
I personally would not vaccinate old birds when they're feeding youngsters - unless the young birds are old enough to be vaccinated at the same time isn't there something about not mixing unvaccinated birds with vaccinated birds
-
we have rules to be adhered to - as a racing organisation vaccination sheets to be in the hands of the fed secretary by March 1st - otherwise you can't race for 3 weeks from the date in which the fed secretary gets your sheets so birds HAVE to be vaccinated before March 1st (old birds) For young birds it is June 1st
-
1st race for me is Bubwith - April 7th - 55 miles there is an open race on March 31st - but we're not sending to that

It has not been a good breeding year for us - but what is even worse - as some of the youngsters are just 'colouring up' 2 dark chequer pieds in the nest - of 2 blues :cry-blow: they're going to be the spitting image of the cock 2 boxes below and he also looks like he's going to be the daddy of the 2 in the box below him  the racing hens appear to be total slappers
-
My thoughts also Have taken 2 hens out of the race team - put into the stock loft - they bred nothing and are now going back on the road this year they're aged 4 and 5 but if they had bred youngsters to score they would have been left in the stock loft

Holland and Barrett do calcium tablets with vitamin D - I grind them down and add to the feed with a small amount of oil to bind it
