  1. Yes Derek. The last few years they have been race marked Thursday, fed on the transporter Friday. Or gone Friday afternoon, but not got to the racepoint until 6.30am. It's the NEHU Eastbourne race. The members decided they should go Friday, but to get to the racepoint Friday night so the birds can rest (no mention of the poor drivers) they would have to be race marked first thing
  2. Redcar Central Flying Club - 16 members sent 434 to Oakham (approx 132 miles) Personally sent 25 - it should have been 24 (hens only being sent this week)
  3. It has been decided that marking for our first combine race will be 8.00am, they have previously been basketted Thursday afternoon. It is unlikely they will be fed before being released so any suggestions as they will need to be in the basket by 7.00am.It's a 275 mile race
  4. The Up North Combine are at Oakham this weekend (it's in Rutland and a substitute for Melton Mowbray, about 3 miles further South) Approx 132 miles to me
  5. Have you been to a vet? What have you treated for? Could it be respiratory problem? Bacterial problem? Or if you have treat with antibiotics could it be fungal infection? Does the loft have an odour?
  6. Anywhere between 25 minutes and one hour twice a day - it probably averages out at 40 to 45 minutes twice a day The problems we're having at the moment are the inconsistency of the cocks - and considering racing hens only First race (55 miles) 5 hens home before we got one cock Second race - 9 hens home before we got one cock Does anybody race cocks and hens on alternate weeks? So that the opposite sex is waiting at home We have 6 spare hens - so they have no boxes to race to - and so far these have performed the best of all of them! Thrown in with 3 x 12 year old cocks retired from the stock loft for 10 minutes before basketing. The hens have never been paired up before
  7. The last one was back just a few minutes after posting

  17. We got told off just the other week for leaving the nest bowls in the boxes (by a better flier than ourselves) - even though the boxes were locked up - we were told to remove all traces of nest bowls etc as it lessens the incentive (and the season hadn't started!) So this season - the nest bowls are out of the nestbox and only put in day of basketing - but as for nest material - only the day before basketing or morning of basketing for a national or big race
  18. Ring issued to Skinningrove Homing Society - but with that many breeder buyers etc - it probably belongs elsewhere If you report to NEHU - it's now an automated system and you should get owners details almost immediately http://www.nehu.co.uk/reportstraynehu.asp
