  2. I actually have a hydrangea in the back garden, which has not done very well there, thankfully the birds have never bothered with it ( its more like twigs with a few leaves and hasn't flowered since it was put in the garden 2 years ago ) Guess it will now go in a pot out the front
  3. I'm not even going to reply to that Bruno, cos you don't half p*** me off at times

  6. Thanks for the reply - would they still be able to get up to boxes? Or do they need bottom boxes?
  7. I would like advice on two things please, one pair of young birds - nestmates, have been casting flights two together at once, one of them early in the season - so wasn't sent to many races, and the nest mate cast the two end flights together, is this likely to happen as older birds? The second, is we would prefer not to have prisoners but we do, and we have been cutting the flights down and letting them out. One hen managed to get up and away with 4 cut down flights on each wing. It was suggested that only one wing should be cut down, what affect would this have on the bird?
  8. You can purchase photos - its the first time I have used the site as the camera wasn't mine, I took the photos and the camera owner pit the photos on a disc for me, I am not very computer literate. I had heard of the site and just stuck them on there, LOL !! There are another 20 or so decent photographs and I will get round to putting the rest on, it does take a while. I'm quite chuffed with your comments, thank you :K) :K)

  13. Anthony - its spelt canker in the UK ;D
  14. I would have thought so, I think this idea is reserved for non-racing stock
  15. Old 'Fit to win' reckons rarely seen in Europe, (page 46)'pseudo' means something that mimics, ie the symptoms are the same as malaria and so is the treatment, Has global warming hit the Shetlands Islands? again old 'Fit to win', photograph of feathers on page 147, but its very poor (thats my excuse, wouldn't know how to put photo on anyway) but the holes run up the length of the feather and not the width and are almost a centimetre apart
  16. Welsh Homing Pigeon Union Unit 6 Atlantic Trading Estate Hayes Road Barry Vale of Glamorgan CF63 3RF tEL: 01446 739555 However I have e-mailed them before but can't find e-mail address its something like: gail@whpu.co.uk
  17. I have little experience - only can go by our winner from Clermont ( 391 miles) a yearling cock who was feeding a 10 day youngster, it was the first time we had sent to one of the longer races. We did have a 3rd from Lille from a 2 year old cock on chipping eggs (approx 318 miles) - this is the first year for us racing cocks over the channel though.
  18. I am a great believer in using probiotics, and used Progem Plus (Gem supplements) for most of the last racing season. Recently I bought Entero-plus - a medpet probiotic, and I am rather disappointed in it. It says on the side that 1kg contains 10 to the power 7 lactobilus ( I can't do it on computer, LOL !) thats only 100,000,000 and you use 5g to 1kg of corn. That only works out at 500,000 bacteria, you buy a human probiotic from Holland and Barrett and EACH little capsule contains 3 billion of the blighters (3,000,000,000 ) Thats 30 x more in one capsule than there is in 1kg of the other product. I have used the medpet product for 3 weeks and I am very unimpressed. Does anybody else use probiotics and which one? Has anyone used Vydex or Osmonds? Avian probiotics please, not human ones, no offence ...........
