Don't you pool any more than 10p ? I don't see any problem with somebody pooling all birds, its the ones who don't pool at all that I can't understand.

I don't know !!!! I just have some leaflets, and by all accounts is best in combination with tylan http://www.jedds.com/SearchKeywordResults.asp?ProductKeyword=Respiratory&SPage=4 Philb if you have a look at Jedds above, there are some dosages for doxycycline on there that might give you an idea of the strength of the doxycycline you need to put in the water. on the above link there is 260mg to a sachet - to 2 litres of water, (just noticed original post was made in June :B ) you should be able to work out the dose from that

We didn't have one head wind in the young bird races this year, one west, two South East and the rest South West, I think we had 4 old bird races with Northerly winds, weather is changing in the UK. Oh yes, and we will be getting two rings !

Are you sure you know your payout system - no disrespect, but we didn't know our fed payout system or even the fed points system until this year ( our third) and the first time we got money !! ;D That wasn't much either Our club only pays out 50p for 6th -10th places The fed pays out on first 4 fed positions, points on first 12 positions and cards on first 20 positions. I think all clubs and feds seem to differ, even in the same organisation. When you say 6 nomi points - does that mean you were 1st nominated pigeon back, 6 times?

Doxycycline is used for respiratory infections and ornithosis The individual dose in tablet form is 7.5mg, for a 500g bird, wouldn't have thought 50mg in 3 pints of water would be correct dosage let alone a fifth of that. http://www.panoramalofts.com/gchf03.html above link may help

Did you not go to the NEHU show ? They had Unikon on show there - and you couldn't get anywhere near. Basic unit is £272 - then there's the other stuff to buy. The rep reckoned last year the system was £460 and this year £420 - but what that includes I don't know, you couldn't have a conversation for everybody else butting in.........
-
I forgot how much sugar you take in your tea...... :P ;D ;D

Club secretary doesn't do them, not governed by the RPRA, but same method used - we will be asking for a recalculation.
-
Not everybody coming on this forum races pigeons Shadow, have you tried feeding smaller seed ? Conditioning seed for a few days might be easier for the bird to get down.
-
NEHU usually follow RPRA, so ours should be yellow for 2007 ;D ;D

What would you do? Not been happy with our distance measurements, a friend came and measured with a hand held GPS system he uses for fell walking, accurate to 17 feet (he told me) The distances have come back for the GPS measurement, and all our distances are out by between 35 and 80 yards - (there are two distances that are shorter, but we don't fly those race points) working back over, we would have had two higher positions in the club and combine on these measurements. When I suggested to my other half that we needed remeasuring, he said, if the same method was used, it would just be the same as before anyway. How accurate are the different measurement methods - and what would you do?

Probably Craig - might need somebody to carry my bags ;D ;D ;D

You don't know much about women Craig - and even less about flagyl, it treats dental infections, protozoal infections ( amoebic dysentery), giardiasis - an infection of the small intestine, leg ulcers, rosacea. It is an anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and an anti-protozoal drug - and I think theres other, better drugs for 'womens things' :P

3.13 Wing pinioning of birds other than poultry 85. Wing pinioning is a permanent way of stopping birds flying which involves the removal at no more than two days after hatching, of the metacarpal and phalanges on one wing, which is the area where the primary feathers grow. It has strong welfare, management, conservation and restraint of non-native species arguments in its favour. For example, it prevents non-native water birds escaping into the British countryside. It is considered to be a humane, effective and safe method of controlling captive water birds, and wildfowl to enable them to be exhibited. It is a common practice in zoos throughout the world. 86. We intend that wing pinioning will be permitted (Schedule 3 to the Regulations) for all species of birds other than farmed poultry. These birds must not be kept for the production of food. The wing pinioning of farmed poultry is currently prohibited, and we consider that this prohibition should continue. 1. Bruno - its Scottish law 2. Its a consultation document 3. ITS PERMITTING THIS in ALL BIRDS except poultry 4. Nowhere on here does it say MUTILATION - am I reading it wrong, or have you ? 5. I would not do the above - it sounds barbaric and totally different from what I HAD done 6. The birds are not settled, it allowed them the freedom to roam the garden, get fresh air, sunshine, a bath and to dry in the sun. They were never out unsupervised and were no more at risk than flighted birds. The flights have now moulted out altogether, and since one bird managed to fly out with cut down flights I was asking for advice as to what to do as I didn't want any more to disappear, they are at the moment not allowed out - AND THEN I GOT YOUR REPLY
