  1. Definitely Su17L 707
  2. Early this morning a guy was delivering heating fuel from his tanker to properties up the back of the Devil's Beeftub on the A701 when a wet bedraggled doo crept under his tanker for shelter. He picked up the bird and phoned me and I met him and took the pigeon which is now in my loft. Its number is SU17l 707 and it has a Unikon ring.
  3. I have the same opinion as you with regard to the British Prime Ministet George but I insist that I know of many intelligent and thoughtful pigeon fanciers with no serious work commitments who will not lift a finger to help the fancy
  4. I am aware John that there are outstanding examples like yourself who give something back to pigeon racing but I maintain that guys such as yourself stand out amongst a sea of indifference.Apologies for my cynical and downbeat attitude.
  5. Go to the AGM of any pigeon organisation, take the floor and call for volunteers to fill the executive positions within the organisation and then in the ensuing silence observe how closely the members feel it necessary to examine the floor beside their boots.
  6. Good for you Steven
  7. F*** Michael watch your blood pressure.
  8. See a lawyer I am nearly sure you can have a 20 year old conviction cleared off your record.
  9. I lost a young pigeon today to a crow,I encourage crows around here because they mob sparrowhawks and chase them but they occasionally take a young bird during the vital day or so when the young birds have emerged from the loft but cannot fly properly and that is what happened this morning. So hawks are not the only predator and they are much brighter than hawks and more difficult to deter.
  10. Lockerbie:5 members sent 55 pigeons to Cheltenham with the Solway Fed.
  11. Really encouraging to read this I am coming up on 85 and like Willie I feed pigeons ,scrape out lofts and carry the doos, only difference is I am no much use at winning I think it's great to read of an octogenarian doing so well long may he continue.
  12. My yearling black hen went missing from theCharnock Richard race last Saturday.Yesterday John Muir of Broxburn contacted me to say he had the doo.Today Mr. Muir appeared in Moffat with my pigeon.Ihave expressed my sincere gratitude to this fancier personally and I post this information to show theire are still very decent people in the pigeon fancy.
  13. The only answer given is that the south west and the borders are ideal habitats for peregrine falcons.Make of that what you will!
  14. A reliable source .Do you think I would put anything on here without knowing it to be accurate.I might not be welcome But it is very far from sh***.
  15. I am reliably informed that the raptor enthusiasts have recently settled four new pairs of Peregrines in the Moffat/Lockerbie area.
  16. Lockerbie 9 members sent 148 pigeons to Shap with the Solway, hope next week is a bit milder.
  17. I have been saying this for many years the middle of April is too early. However Thea answer is in the fanciers own hands,my birds are now well trained but I do not know about this Saturday and throwing them away.
  18. Roland, all the political information put out by the conservative and Labour Party for the forthcoming local elections on 4th May provides absolutely no information regarding any policies they might have, but instead loudly and stridently warns all voters that only a vote for them can prevent a second referendum. Looks like they're beginning to panic. I am an old man and will not live to see it but with the situation in Northern Ireland and Scotland the U.K. Is beginning to break up and the sooner the better. Change is inevitable.
  19. Start with how the news of the victory at Waterloo was received by the Rothschild banking group by carrier pigeon before the official news by horseback and ship and enabled the Rothschilds to secure an enormous financial coup which was the basis of their fortune.. Speak of the contributions made by pigeons in both world wars. Finish by speaking of the enormous satisfaction derived by the back garden fancier. Hope this helps.
  20. Bought mine from Flightmaster in Dumfries ( they have a website) I cannot mind the exact price but I think it was about £23 for an 80 dose bottle.
  21. Yes I regret to say that I think you are right and for really spurious reasons fanciers have a poor reputation with the wider community.
  22. This is interesting enough I would be glad if Bill would be prepared to describe what he thinks the public believes a stereotypical pigeon fancier to be because in my experience pigeon men and women come from all sorts of backgrounds and are of many different views and opinions.
  23. Training?? Positively Baltic outside rain, sleet and flakes of snow. Nowhere near ready for 15th. April
  24. What's wrong with you guys why such a fuss about a people trying to run their own country or do you think as most red or blue tories do that we are too wee,too poor and too stupid.
