I've given up looking for distance pigeons. I was advised by our top prize winner to cull my Palamos cock. The thought at the time seemed crazy and I was right.

The question is are we looking at distance or sprinters. If we are looking for distance 18 mile would be fine, as we are looking for birds with a good sence of direction. If we are looking for sprinters we need to teach them to home quickly, 18 mile is then too far and 10 would be enough. My own late breds will see a basket for the first time in may race in june and will go out to 270 mile.
