  1. I took 'em training today first toss 12 mile am I too early ? West wind 18c Way sooner than normal for me ;D
  2. I like mine to see where the sun is on the way to the lib site. Better on the back of an open truck than shut in the boot.
  3. Could be worse. My birds want a drink when they come back from racing. We have flat rooves all round so they get a drink on the house first. Still never have been in to sprinting. ;D
  4. Very interesting. How do they all fly off as one?
  5. Mate I couldn't get my Mrs to hold the bird while I stiched. I was most worried you'd kneck it to put it out of its misery. That would be the waste of a perfectly good bird and he'll still be good for Tarbes.
  6. I just give 'em a week and select two fertile ones and chuck the other two.
  7. Mate get some one to help stich it mate. If the mrs has a strong stomach. It'll be fine very soon I'm sure. Best o'luck and don't panick you'll do it.
  8. It aint neccesarily so. This year and last I've hens paired together with fertile eggs. As long as there's a cock bird about. ;D ;D
  9. Loads o' good things said on this thread. Mine get half a dozen 10 milers at most then in to inland racing 6 /8 weeks before there target race. Tarbes international being the main one for me this year. They will get one water race before that.
  10. Perfic weather for me ;D out on the bike me thinks ;D
  11. You can realy take liberties jumping 'em in good flying weather. My yearlings and late breds wont come out till May, 1st race 122 mile June 5th then out to 280 mile with the old hen National 515 mile for the Yearlings that flew as young uns Bordeaux BBC
  12. Best o luck mate. You're down to three but mine aint started yet. Mine will still be there at Tarbes international though. Too keen too soon me thinks. But then when I sent to Palamos I started the season with just 3 cocks
  13. Is it not on the racecourse
  14. cider vinegar or milton for me
  15. I'd never throw a ball or try and frighten them off the roof. Food to bring 'em down or just wait. I've two missing from my young uns that have just gone out. Love 'n patience is the thing.
  16. Hmm I know a bloke that was a top fancy pigeon man that had all his knicked too
  17. good news mate leave em in afew days and let em settle back to eggs

    old birds

Do you mean can you race young birds as old birds ? Under RPRA then yes, but hens only not cocks, to be safe.

    One leg

My mate has a cock that stands on one leg all the time and he's topped the fed more than once proved to be a top stock cock too. He doesn't let him rear any young his self though some thing to do with his leg fell off cos the ring was too tight and he didn't spot it till too late.
  20. If you can't race, I'd take 'em as far as I could. 10 mile first toss and keep 'em there for 10/15 chucks then put em further in 25 mile stages. I'd stop when I get them down to about 33% of what I started with. If we get the summer weather we had last year you may only get them 50 mile lol. If all was well I'd have 'em to the coast 120 / 150 mile. Late breds can wait till the warm summer weather though.

    grizzle

Don't wish to hijack the thread but I was asked what strain my grizzle's are. Can't reply through pm so. I keep nothing pure. They must fly 280 as young birds 515 as yearlings and 600+ as two year olds.
