  1. Hats of to ya twas a tough 'un by all accounts.
  2. Don't see any problem with this other than breeding in the cold of winter. I don't pair mine till March. I am just about to hatch a round now that will start in June and the hens will go to the old hens national 270 mile. Been doing this a few years now. 2nd sec 20th MNFC and a September 07 hatch flew Bordeaux 517 mile for me on 1st August. So not yet 2 and done a 500 miler. The pigeon I clocked from Bordeaux was however an 08 May hatch from the same pair. These will be ready ready for Tarbes next term.
  3. Fantastic book and John certainly had a good bird in one of the internationals. When looking at the result it looked like a race only open to flyers in kent, then about 20 or 30 th there is John.
  4. I'd agree with all you say skull, and this comment too, but I'd add. Drag influences the result more than wind ! There is absolutely no point in anyone round here racing in the MCC. The birds are always up the M5 but many locals did well in the MNFC this year.
  5. I don't see this as necessarily true either. Some lofts will be prone to kanker and not others. Some will need to treat, should your birds be in a damp environment you're gonna have to.
  6. My pen is open nearly all the time, but if the rain is heavy, I will sometimes shut the pen.
  7. Not necessarily so me thinks. Treat on a four weekly cycle with different products is what is recommended in my vets book as a preventative.
  8. "Stock birds" Quality bred birds for stock me thinks 'nough said. Sounds right to me.
  9. Glad I aint took that for advice or I wouldn't have had me 07 late breds from Bordeaux the other week. If you're gonna breed 'em now as I am, just wait till June to start em, and send 'em out to 250 mile.
  10. I had a new pen with few birds and my mate picked him up. I had room and didn't want to offend my mate. ;D ;D ;D Crazy aint it
  11. Never a truer word said spent a fortune over the years and my Palamos cocks sire was a stray in the town market ;D

Birds up at 6 15 good luck to any one who has sent
  19. Well I've sent 5 tonight and they are my birds planned for Lamballe.
  20. I would never pull a feather under any circumstance. Any new feather is likely to be stunted and pulling feathers is said to be very painful more so than cutting the skin.
  21. Anti depresants to start with ;D
  22. Thanks Albear. Look for a fat bloke in pink stripes ;D
  23. 2 till 5 see you there ;D
  24. With only 1 experienced pigeon mine will be at Bordeaux instead
