watching a young blue hen coming first to the gardens and getting in with someones birds that had let out and could not get them in before the race,, Just as my partner was going to kill him, a little dark cheq come shooting in between the houses and straight in the loft like a rocket, my heart missed a beat as we ran for it, to take first club second fed, that was in 2000 now,
-
No, you dont know his birds, he will keep the best for him self, and sell you birds off the ones that have not done so well, or quote his result and sell you birds that anyone else would put in the bin, jmo Why cull when you can sell is what they think, all they have to do is put a name or a ring number on a ped you cant prove that they came out that nest, you are best getting latebred young from a top loft, if you can pick what they are off, you have more of a chancegetting the good ones, That is a quote from one of the top flyers in the north west combine,
-
I dont think it is a bout who has the best birds, its more of a percentage game, if you have 1 winner out of 10 birds (1/10) and some one has 10 winners out of 100 its still 1/10, alls that means is they have 90 birds to breed you crap young birds from, What i would want is birds from a loft that had the best percentage of winners or consistant results, At fed or combine level, I went to a local flyers loft and he had 32 cocks, all but 1 had gained a first place, Mob flyer = Yes The one to buy birds from = yes

And getting the best from that family, I am thinking about roundabout next year anyway, i hate having to get rid of hens that have not done any wrong
-
Yea, i could do that but i would have to breed two rounds, what i ment was 2 eggs, both cocks, i dont see the point in killing half the team, what i always go by is the smallest in the nest is the hen, so i ring it with an odd number ring, but not always the case, i had this year two hens off my best pair, (one of them won), and two cocks from a not so good pair, i only race cocks as old birds, i would have prefered the other way around saying that, one of them cocks got a card in the shotton shows last week

;D ;D
-
??) I think i will leave it for a bit ;D
-
True, i moved in to the worst position in the fed. i did live on the golden mile, Just to prove a point,, that it can be done and people should stop moaning and feed hopping, i dont see the point in winning if you dont a have any good competition, whats the poit, iwould rather only win one and work hard for it than win every race easy

I beleive you, and i am now a bit more educated, Thanks, I will educate you on the darkness some day , i would like to get my hands on the one with out a head, how much and were would i get one from ? Thanks
-
fella i know years ago, he used to remove the first egg and then put it back when the second one was layed and he used to get about the same, a hand full of hens, never tried it myself but it looked like it worked,

I would love you to tell me how to get a shed load of cocks, OK if you can do that, i just from experiance trying have found it not that simple, but its not my best area with the birds and to be honest i have not tried that hard, so i will leave it to you now to give the advice,
-
you cant say that that colour will breed that colour, its just not that simple. i have bred white with colours loads of times and most of the time you will get a white and a colour young bird, MOST OF THE TIME, i am not saying all of the time, I know about dominant alleles and recessive alleles and normally darker colours will show over lighter colours, NORMALLY, That is why i said what i said, i mean you have more of a chance that way, JMO,
-
true, same with any colour then,
-
yea, i dont know what i was thinking sorry, you could just get a mealy fantail if you was going to do that, :B
-
its not like painting mate, you cant just cross and hope you get what you want, What you would be best doing is crossing a mealy racer with a white fantail, imo, most of the time you just get young the same colour as the parents not a mix
-
or just go to chris h for some ;D ;D

Loads of them about, The chester 2 bird and the wirral 6 bird in just the local area to me, i have seen them in the BHW all over the place, ask around, i think you will be supprised
-
with big teams you always have the law of an average, they are more than likely to win, i like birds off people that do well in 2 bird and 6 bird clubs, were the playing field is leveled out,
-
Nice one, seen it on facebook but i still was thinking you was taking the p,

sherry on last feed before basketing, calms them in the basket and gives them energy for the race,
