Would like to know how you all build up to breed I have my birds split since the last race, one month before my hens are fed a depurative with added maple peas (as it has been cold) and hemp as i all ways have but i think that it helps the birds egt the horn, i donk know if that is true but i have always done it, i also 2 weeks beforre have the lights come on at 5 in the morning, 2 months before i treat with altabactine, i dont jab but next year i am, and i also treat with 3 in 1 cocci, canker and hexamitius, i beleive that you only need the canker treatment but i like that product i get Thats about it i think, Thanks

I have a 2 year old hen that bred rubbish youngsters last year and both went in the bin, its nestmate bred a winner, the hen was crossed to a van reet cock that that got taken by percy but was a good pigeon, the cock paired to a laffy daffy hen that had not raced and i got two hens off them, one being the winner, the hen has not made it to breeding as i had more proven hens, do you think this was a mistake, and i should keep her and pair it to something of laffy daffy desent :-/ do you think the genes will come out with a better pairing ie. to a decendent of her brother :-/

True, it happened to me last year, i was working 16 hour days and left the light on, 2 years ago, this year they will have them for 12 hours 1 week before racing on a timer for early morning, when they are on eggs theywill go off to provent eggs from getting smashed done this last year and had a brilliant breeding season, you only need it to spark the hormones and get them on eggs, when that is done you are just wasting elecy

Good idea, had the same problem last year, i culled the one that lost his box and then shut his box up so the other cock could not get in it, turned out to be my most consistant pigeon, and bred a winner, i used that box to motivate him but when i let a young cock take over he held it this year and the good cock gave up on it,
