  1. Had the birds since i was 7, No family has ever had them (that i know of) I have always been a lad of the world, started early nestting in the local woods and had a chicken, when i was 7 me and a mate walked past a young lad that was calling his birds from the street, he was only 6 years older and is still a good mate today, he started us off with strays and gift birds, in 1998 i got my own loft and in 99 i got an allotment, thats was burnt down in 2003, keeped building untill 2005 when i got my own house and built my present loft

    FASTING

it makes them belive that winter is on top of them so they try to get the moult over with before winter gets on to much, when racing is over my birds get 1/2 oz morning and 1/2 oz at night, jim biss was one for cutting the food in the off season but i dont think he missed a feed, its not for me that, in the racing my birds get 2 1/2 oz a day so this is a big drop for them, i think that when you start prep for racing and start feeding good again they are easier to get in to condition,
  3. could not have said it better myself, good advise strapper
  4. what amount are you feeding ? All i can say is observe your birds, with this you should no how much to feed, dont do the exact thing people say just take the bits that work for, what i work by is you cant beat the champs doing the same thing, do some test, see how much the birds eat in hot and cold weather, how they react to feeding after training in certain winds, this will help you on the way to sucess, good luck

    ticking eggs

I dont know mate, last time i seen them they were in the bhw, must of been years ago now, sorry
  7. I have some barkers off a local fella, hasnt crossed them ever, does not race them no more but they have big peds for them, a mate of mine would have been 18 in the cester 2 bird but he could not get his clock in (he was gutted) there is more to come from these birds with good management, i only have a cock and a hen
  8. I dont belive that, there is always selective breeding even if its within your loft you always breed the best with the best, 100 years ago pigeons were going at 40 miles an hour but now we are getting birds going over 60, that is just an compliment to you skills with the birds
  9. They all said in my area i could not win a sprint race and would not win in a north west wind, I won the shortest race of the season, (ludlow) 72 miles in a north west wind and to prove it was not a fluke i got the 2nd aswell ;D
  10. i know a good flyer that used to take the first eggs away, when the second egg was layed put it back, it was so he got all cocks as he only raced cocks, dont know if this work or the what % did I still think every season that the first egg layed will be a han as it is sat on and off until the next egg is layed
  11. Proberly, and i hear it was untracable too, but i cant be good at some point, the things people do to win,

  17. The stuff that the chicken farmers use does not work for are birds, they put it in the water but i does not seem to enter the pigeons blood stream this way
  18. More than likely had cirovirus, salmonella will keep popping up untill the bird fights the virus
  19. I agree with that, all carbs a used in the firt 15 mins of a race then they start digging in to the fats, you need to build fats up as soon as you can, And i agree with oldyellow, all week wont do them any harm
