  9. i sent 12 4 cocks and 8 hens ,in our club( duntocher and clydebank ) 257 sent by 17 members . race point st boswells around 85 miles to me .
  10. yes mate and of course i know what you mean with the difference between national races and fed ones ,but come on surely most can still time in ?
  11. cracker mate .
  12. so am no in a mans national then tam?
  13. but you'se dont have a 500 mile race tam ,how is this a hard program ,in the inland national races there all coming in to scotland (mostly up the east coast )(depending on the wind ), if your doo's cant home from inside scotland then budgie is right 98% of the time .
  14. yes rab i agree to a point ,the thread was about who will finnish the season ,which to me means this you send to all races ,every club has the ones that have rubbish birds and or management and there season ends around 200 miles ,to me this is where the real races start. the guy that wins the averages does not nessesary be the best flyer that year ,but if you are a decent flyer and you cant win/time from a long race means one thing mate you burnt the doos out trying to win the early ones , what is the real reason that king billy put this thread up ? certainly not about a hard season thats for sure ,you'se dont even have a 500 mile race in your program .so this wiz a bit of a wind up i think because he has not even come back on about it.
  15. why with a west wind robert .i would rather send in a west wind than a cold east ,strange to me that one :-/
  16. dundee utd(the arabs) buying liverpool ? very strange ;D ;D ;D
  17. this is what i do with my y/bs ,i feed them well plenty of waste until they can fly about 6 weeks , then once they start going out they only get out at night well after 4.30pm i give them a light feed in morn ( 7.30 am)usually g10 pellets and some hormoform mixed in then they get out later depends when i get home from work this varies , but after flying at night they usually get as much as they want , but once called to get in they have 30 seconds for all to get in after that trap is closed till food is gone then the ones that did not go in ,go in when they want but get no food ,the next morn the ones that did not come in the night before get separated and not allowed any food , they are usually the first in that night ,but some are very stubborn usually the hens (just like the wifes) so do the same again till they learn . my birds are usually never starved but have to obay me or else .
  18. are u 4 real tam ,our fed program last 3 years have been 2 races at 357 miles and one at 490 miles ,quite a few in our fed done the hole program and into a harder area . ps i have had birds at all these races starting with around 30/36 old birds and hardly raced a young bird race , so how can some of you lanark boys naw complete the program with over 100 birds very strange or is it budgies 98% rule oot your way .ps tam is that you aff the swally ?
  19. 100% mark i ment to put on 4/6 weeks before instead of 4 weeks and i would hope that anyone changing food doesnt do it over night gradually over the space of a week ,if they fly for hours just now the will be past their best come the racing season .
  20. cheers kev all the best and im very very sorry for your loss mate, that would just kill me :o :o
  21. hi mate its not how much you feed them to get them to fly its what you feed them ,y/b's are hard to regulate .1st there growing so need plenty protien. 2nd fanciers want them to fly 1 - 2 hours so to do that you need to feed them a high carbs diet . i would let them grow then nearer the 1st y/b race maybe 4 weeks before then change them onto a high carbs feed ,who wants them to fly hours just now certainly not me mate.
  22. cheers jimmy .
  23. happy retirement frank ,honestly i never knew you were that old ;D, i knew you were in yer early sixties but 65 ,wow. many happy returns from me and karen ,pamela and andrew . oh and the dug clara.
