That's it mate,I've got the books somewhere,it's a good tonic.
-
All good produts if used correctly,I haven't seen the books you mention but parrishes food contains iron.I've made a tonic up years ago with cytacon, parrishes and something else ,I would have to look through my old books to jog the brain cells a bit.Lindsay C.

Usually starts with loss of appitie, and unwillingness to exercise, holding food in their crops,ie food from the previous day, getting worse, wet droppings and in some cases death if not treated for a secondary infection which could be anything from canker/bacterial/fungal,droppings test would be advised.Treatment or should I say what I do.Stop feeding ,keep them in,electolytes in the water. After a couple of days feed light (depurative) and often.OBSERVATION is the key.JMO. My water is put up the previos night, hopefully to allow any crap that the water board deem fit to add to disperse.Note I said hopefully.Lindsay

You've hit the nail on the head "doomed",it's a shame such a good sport is going downhill fast.Use to be 36 members in the club i'm in,another club had to join us to keep both clubs going, now 6 members?????.Most clubs in this area are the same.

With the first young bird race next weekend for our Federation I think there will be a lot of fancies NOT sending.Young bird sickness has struck again and most fanciers that i've spoken to have birds that have been affected with it or just getting over it.In this day and age surely the powers that be ,be it RPRA. NEHU.SU. and so on should realise that before long they are going to be the governing body of no one.The lads and lasses in this area seem to get it just before racing, all the hard work training down the spout, fed up of forking money out for for stuff that doesn't stop them getting this problem. It's alright saying you can sort it in x number of days but a couple of week in a young bird season is a long time. There's a hawk watch which does exactly nothing appart from take a page up in the BHW.I could just about fill a page with the strikes round my village, why don't they have a young bird sickness watch and get something done about it.JMO. Hi Owen " Horsewhip the idiot who releases these evil creatures". Sorry mate not good enough for them, they should be put in a cage with a tiger and other do gooders made to watch. When they release them they know what they are going to do.KILL BIRDS wether it be pigeons or other. So they can't call themselves bird lovers.Lindsay C

Do you use barley or a depuritive.
-
Why would you want to do that.Off the top of my head I would say NO.
-
I use a 2 litre fountain drinker. If you get one smaller and you get more birds you'll need another one, also if you get a small one and fill it to the top the birds will want to bathe in it . http://www.everythingforpets.com/category/use.dept.144/

My heart goes out for you mate.I've been down that road that many times with my birds, old and young, said enoughs enough a million times but i've still got them. They are a part of me,been among them since I could walk and now well in my sixties, retired early in 2002 .It's now become a part of pigeon racing which I don't like ,then you get the do gooders and the fools that are completely brainwashed ,I think they are worse than the BOP.Please reconsider mate, you'll look back in a week or so and find a few choice words and smile.I started with 32 ybs ,two week ago I had six in the loft on the night,I now have eighteen nearly trained up and ready for the fisrt race next week.Good luck with your returns.Lindsay C.

I beleive the preening gland is on the top/rump of the bird, the beak is used to apply the oils and not from the beak. Lindsay C
-
Sorry you've lost your team of young birds,I know what it feels like, started with 32,which is ample for the size of loft I have 6 x 6 section. i'm now down to 16 with two missing this morning.I've never had a season like it,been among pigeons fot 60 year , just about had enough. Lindsay C.

I use it in the bath water as can be seen in the above photo,if I was to use it in the drinker (which I don't) I would make it a lot weeker. The birds always drink out of the bath water before taking a dip,but if that strengh of water was put infront of the purely to drink I think it might have an adverse effect.
