I 've read through these posts every day since the thread began,tried to keep my nose out of it but finally had to give in.What Rolands doing bound to do some good,even if it only converts one persons thoughts.I and a couple more lads who live local to me and are on this site get hammered with both Peregrines and Sparrow Hawks to the extent that it's nearly time to call it a day and i've been among pigeons for over sixty years,so that's not said lightly.This season alone with not counting I must have had eight to ten times if not more strikes with Peregrines over the loft and again while training.If you don't like the idea of what these people are doing,just ignore it and enjoy your pigeons,In this area you can't. Sorry to hear about this mate .What can one say,had my lofts broken into some 20 years ago, heart breaking.They didn't take the birds they killed them and threw them on the garden.If you want I can put your post on another couple of sites for you.Lindsay

This is better than any footy i've seen tonight.

My young birds are let out twice a day,as near 07:30. as pos.and fed about half a ounce or less depending on how they flew.They are out again as near as pos 14:30. when they come in they get as much as they want,or till they start mucking about with the feed.With getting as much as they want in the afternoon they are never really hungry in the morning.When I feed for race day I feed as I would do any other morning they just miss their afternoon feed.I take the drinker out about 11:00. and put it back in the loft about 16:30 + electolytes at half measure.I give the birds a LITTLE black rape/rice to try to get them to take a drink.We ring at 18:15.onwards.That's how I do it might not suit everyone,just my way. Sorry mate our fed doesn't fly Pau,Messac is as far as we go.When he was 2nd X 2 at Portsmouth he was beaten by a son.I have one bird left in the loft off him he's had a few minor tickets,all being well he'll be going over the water next season.Old cock breeds silver hens now and then but never they manage to show any signs of being a champion ? Three week or so ago I got a red pied cock in SU 09 A ***,phoned the owner ,she said that they had a real bad race and only got 1 back from 21 .I told her that I could get it so far back up the West coast, would that be ok. Yes! During the following week my mate and I managed to collect 5. SU09 A. rung ybs and got them upto New Cumnock. End of storey or so I thought.16:10 looking down the garden and a red pied drops,bouncing off the wire door wanting in.Yep same pigeon back again.I phoned the owner who said they had had a good race and went with the first two positions in the club,I proceeded to tell her about the red pied.It's amazing what these birds do,it was flying from the Edinburgh area against the wind and must have flew another 70/80 mile passed their loft to get to mine. I was offered the young bird ,so it looks like it's now found a new home,providing it keeps it's nose clean and out of trouble. Lindsay
