  1. I use Gemthepax when breeding and it stays in the shed and is fine I used make my own garlic oil but I had concerns about it going rancid so I buy the natural one now and keep it in the shed no problem ,I don't use quill boost but use avidress all year and that's fine kept in the shed I think its things like cod liver oil you would have to watch when the temp goes up so I tend to only use it winter and early in the year when breeding Powder wise I use yeast when breeding and poultry spice when moulting and both are fine

    Verdict

I would block the gap with small chicken wire Rats will get in 2 inch gap easily
  3. Good morning all Rotten day down here heavy grey cloud and rain for the last hour Hope it's better elsewhere
  4. England were poor looked lack energy in the team I didn't see the need for rice and Henderson , I am not that keen on having a holding player who can't pick a pass or drop in to help the central defence rice seemed to walk through the game without achieving much at all

Hi mate I wish I could get it but they only stock,VL,Bamfords and souths here I emailed Gem and I think I had to get 40 bags to get delivery of a mixture and no one here was interested at the time otherwise I would try a few of the mixtures out

I agree Ryan I feed about 40 per cent beans and barley just didn't have to confidence to go 100 per cent Where you getting your beans ? They are more expensive than a good moulting mix here , I have been using souths barley from st Lawrence's at nazeing think it's £7.50 the last lot I got at £5 from the farm seemed to have what looked like small sharp seeds a bit like flint in it But the beans are good just not cheap £14 for 25 kg was £10 2 years ago

Mine are on 3 parts VL moulting 1 part barley 1 part mix of all I had left ( mostly dupurative ) 25 grams in the morning and then a few beans in the evening to they leave a few and round 5 to 7 grams Although very wet down here it's pretty mild Sedochol and poultry spice twice a week Garlic oil and yeast twice week Avidress every day Small amount amount of matrix / clay blocks in the evening Warm bath twice a week One year I will feed beans barley and a bit of oil seed as I'm sure that's all they need
  12. If the birds have done well for you Alex I would breed a team out of them next February as in another year they may not perform to the same level I only fly to 300 miles in the main just 1 race past that and I find my best birds are getting beat by yearlings once there 4 , up to 3 it's no problem they flynat speed It may be just the way I race and keep them but they don't get any quicker for me aftern 3 years old or that I have no interest in the real long races where experience may count more My plan is I will fly 20 cocks next year but pair them a couple of weeks early as they hit super form a couple of weeks later than I wanted , I will pick 6 hens to race and bring them out around may once the cocks are in a routine Youngsters I will breed just from stock as normal so they hatch in the spring I can't be bothered getting youngsters out to April to much hassle and to many hawks here

    Cat Litter

I have used it in the past but found it was dusty within a few weeks , I use is under my grills in the nest box when breeding or around the bowl , I think it breaks up where you walk on it I think sophisticat brand is good some of the cheap ones go dusty quickler ,

    Few Free Birds

Thanks lads There are some nice birds there hope they can do a good turn for someone
  17. I have a few free pigeons if anyone is interested Mostly from my yb team I weaned 39 and have ended with 30 having had 7 races ,there are 3 yearling hens and 1 cock My birds are crossed pigeons as I try other birds against my own and if one works out that gets put in with mine The strains really a mix of Wildermeersh ,Jansen ,koopman ,de Meyer x lambrechts ,zwol and a ceuleman hen so a bit of a mixture really not that fashionable I keep 10 pair stock ,18 to 20 cocks and 6 hens They win to 360 miles I haven't tried them further for a few years now Results in the last two years 2018 and 2019 my loft book shows I sent to 38 races in that time Club results in the last two years 19 x 1st 22 x 2nd 15 x 3rd 10 x 4th Fed result in the same period 7 x 1st 4x 2nd 5 x 3rd 4 x 4th If anyone who wants to try some that had them last year or a other basics member you are more than welcome but I only want Walkers to collect the birds as now the season is over I will be working 6 days a week and with walkers I can plan better rather than some couriers that never seem to keep to time or even day I have put the offer up elsewhere so they may go quick as they did before Thanks Neil
  18. Lovely birds
  19. I use to use apple cider vinegar but changed 3 years ago to avidress It does seem to have reduced the canker in my birds , may be other factors of course but my last 9 test results have come back clear for canker
  20. Had 40 weaned 18 tosses to 22 miles I have 35 from the 40 weaned sent north rd to 94 miles a hard race to start with 1140 ypm had 29 yesterday and 2 today Very strange race with birds arriving spilt up from all directions I think the low cloud and se wind didn't help
  21. I feed mine before 8 am Friday , the amount and type depends on wind and distance I feed 10 grams to 20 grams , all have empty crops at marking Mine get extra Thursday to cover the short rations Friday

    Training

Started with 39 lost 3 so far Plus three injured 2 wings so I would think they are finished 1 with a broken leg , Had 6 tosses 9 to 15 miles then 6 at about 22 miles for them Will try to get as many as I can it this week at 22 miles then drop them back to 15 miles and get as many in as I can next week Can't complain, I do think It's vital they roam well and are 100 per cent in good health prior to training , you can't stop the bop though
  23. Thank you , very kind of you
  24. I ended up using the cheaper one which was by £6.30p a bag cheaper mixed 50 50 with barely so my dupurative/ early in the week type mix worked out £7.50 a bag and the birds have performed very well on it , so a saving of £11.10 a bag as the verse laga mix was £18.60
