Could never get my old birds to do 2 hours my hens inmay do hour and half f I am lucky but mainly 40 to 50 mins as for the cocks 35 to 45 min is about it Plus even in summer mine only go out once a day
-
One of these corns is £14.80 for 20kg and the other is £10.50 for 20 kg What one would you prefer or what reason can you see for the £4.30 difference
-
I do that on the 2nd round first round I do a bout 5 weeks before pairing Never have ybs go wrong ,but I take your point
-
I also think if the birds don't do just one circle or half circle and go from a training toss it's good to worm them If they fly around 4 or 5 times from a toss they could well need worming
-
I like to worm mine regular every 6 weeks or so ,unless they have ybs in the nest I wouldn't canker unless it was a good month before pairing
-
I am pairing this week the 30/ 31st so my 2nd round are hatching in 70 days about 10th of April ,so they are ok for the first race in yb season Last year my ybs 2nd round hatched on the 20 to 28th of April and took to the air early and roamed quickly bur it was a little tight for training in time

Cheers mate The 09 cock bred me good birds each year this year two ybs were 2 nd fed , hope he fills for another couple of years
-
I got him from a very good fancier he had won the fed twice , bred a fed winner this year and my current best bird that although hasn't won a fed he has 7 top positions in the fed only has only raced 15 times . You picked well mate
-
he is a big boy but has a nice way about him a very calm pigeon he has bred winners

I use the brown felts from pallets or pj lofts like the other post I don't like the ones with thread in them I stick a bit of silicone in the bottom or the bowl to stop it moving as they can slide at times not often but it does happen I like them and use them every year
-
Thanks Alex , all have bred good birds but some are getting on a bit now so I will move a few out of them to stock next winter Wish I was better taking the photos

Sorry I should have added this wasn't on widowhood more spare system but like ybs on the sliding door Maybe I could take them Tuesday to Thursday but Tuesday and Wednesday they return to seed and Thursday the hens like you mention Alex Thank you for the advice
-
See your point On my system short tosses seemed to really improve the birds ,particularly for the early season and I was thinking it would help the yearlings
-
Looking for some help or advice If you loft fly widowhood cocks and are able to train short to say 15 miles in the evening during the week between races would you show the hens on return or just allow them to trap to seed or the like Would seeing the hens to often put them off but without seeing hens afterntraining how would you train them to understand the hen will be waiting on the Saturday
-
That's great information ,thank you

Thanks lads

Thanks jake I have had a look , fair bit of reading it does seem the van loon line is the main family in them although they do look a little different to the planet van loons as I remember them
