  1. i think mother nature is at play with mild weather a few days a week telling the birds its time to breed then cold snaps a few days a week telling the older pigeons its to cold to breed think its just your luck if you get a wee run of mild weather where the hens have started the process of making eggs and cant stop when the cold snaps come back another week or two will make a big difference when temp is up and stays up
  2. putting the nestbowl in the left hand side of one box and right hand side in the other working from top box to bottom box then switching sides from top to bottom on the next row from top to bottom and so on also helps the birds find there box as does leaving the hens locked in the box a few days when paired gets the cock used to flying up to the box his hen is in

  5. thats what i was taught buster to cover the canker in the red phosphorus it was a cure for warts also before the new cures came about other old cures were painting the canker lump with iodine then scraping the lump off a few days later and for respitory an old cure was a few drops of tcp in the water if these methods did not work the birds were moved on ps the red in the match stick is only a dye phosphorus is a white colour in its true form

  11. as long as the latebreds have been vacinated there should not be a problem m8 and when you jag your youngbirds jag the latebreds again at the same time even if they have been done before this keeps the bacteria in the section the same for all

  13. for me first three races latebreds only 4th or 5th race start yearlings that have flown the program if forcast is good channel birds may go to shake the cobwebs off 5th race stop latebreds yearlings take over yearlings go every week while picking another two races around the 200 260 mile mark for the channel birds yearlings may have a rest if channel birds are out channel birds then stopped and on open bowl yearings go to the coast then channel birds take over

  17. colour of droppings can be green or brown depending what you feed but should never be watery

  20. that would be my guess to sammy some hens will just not lay if you get a cold snap it can knock them back for weeks others it dont seem to bother them
  21. bang on jam costs the same to feed a bad one as a good one
  22. the only kind my birds will eat is kilpatricks black minrals and as tommy says cant get enough when feeding youngsters
