i love the breeding side pat planning pairs to breed you winners and then it comes off gives me great satisfaction i used to keep it all in my head till it got full of s t lol now have to make sure its all down on paper as i forget what day it is m8 auld age eh but great to look over in the winter months thats how i made the conection between vacinating youngbirds and my old birds going off form for a few weeks every year had it down in my book when i jagged the youngsters within 3or4 days my old bird race team went off form for 2 to 3 weeks till i clocked what was happening after my m8 billy drew my attention to it sorted now it pays to write it down

yes stuart think she banged it coming out the sputnic one day i took the weans next door in to see the doos the wee boy spooked her and she battered out the trap thats when i clocked the broken flight and pulled it as it was about this time of year thought it would grow back no harm done thats twiced ive pulled it and once letting it throw it but it grows to about one inch then curls and deforms could have gret when i first saw it as she was my no one racing hen before the wee clermont hen came on the scene and i suppose you cant have to many good breeders it was just i had very high hopes for her fly through a brick wall on chipping egg or wee youngster but she owes me nothing won well over a grand for me stuart ill put her back on with her brother this year and lay into her see how it goes

last night into the wee small hours and compairing with my best yearling racers and found two wee nuggets in a mealy cock and a cheq hen both are cracking birds in the hand but there performance and breeding was what got me excited remember i told you guys about my good mealy hen 2 first sections in fed and scored in both inland nationals 2013 and was looking forward to getting her across the channel last year when she broke her newly grown in end flight and i pulled it out and grew back deformed so i had to leave her out the team last season in the hope she would cast it natural with the big moult it was a big loss from my team as you can put the kettle on for this hen over 350 miles but she had already bred 3 firsts and was off two of my best breeding birds sire being the direct son of vale barcelona with the dam being my spin hen of kuyper bros well the flight has been cast and grown in deformed again so she is finnished for racing but what cheered me up was she was paired to her full brother and one of the youngsters from the pair was 1st club 4th section 11th open ingelton about 130 miles and was also 1st club 13th section upper heyford 290 miles with his nest mate being 1st club 9th section in another race as thats now six winners off her and only lightly bred from i might have another gold mine at stock the other one i found is a cracking cheg hen that was 37th sect fed yearling derby 250 miles then first club 2nd section bedhampton 360 miles and first club 10th section fed 33 section ypres national and was bred from my son of debarcelona at age 18 so the old guy is still doing the bizz for me and looking forward to seeing what these two birds can do at 500 miles this year must say i have not had many yearlings that score two or three times in a season flying natural what about you guys found anything that has taken your eye during the winter months

more or less steven get them happy doing what they like best an open bowl the week before the national and a nice dark nest box for the last 3or4 days with plenty fats and oil seeds with a few peanuts then its up to them ps and a lot of luck

think once you have good distance birds its just comonsence how you treat them always found finding them was the hard bit mick lol

should have added once i find the birds that are breeding distance winners im not so hard on there youngsters as long as they are well trained to make sure there is no weakness but when trying to find them out they get all the races before my money goes on them as 2yr olds

ive found theres a few things can cause this craig cold weather hens over weight and old age after they rear the one they are normaly back on there cycle and lay two next time because feeding takes the fat off them and weather is a bit warmer jmo forgot to add yearling hens sometimes only lay one the first time also and ok after rearing

always found his feeding top class and the man very helpfull jmo m8 but they all want to keep the prices up if they can compition brings it down

he is a good man cyril does his best for the doo men and his feeding is first class

ive been told vinegar so i will be trying that when the weather is a bit better and they want in the bath

ive used this for years m8 and it does not kill quill mite only worked for me the first few times i used it then they came back stronger than ever and i know others have found the same

think its they fancy new tops they put on the cans i could not get mine to work ither lol

every race as a yb 5or6 races to 350 miles as yearling then 3to4 races to 260 280 miles and hope to get 8 hours or more on the wing on the final prep race about 3to 4 weeks before the the main event giving me time to set them down the way they race best

i only half fill the drinkers so if they freeze i just pour some hot tap water on top which is enough to melt the ice if id time i would do as lindsay does and empty them at night an fill them in the morning not used my loft heating this year

must agree with dal 2 what is much more concerning to me is the fact that this is looking more and more like a deliberate attempt to ruin an innocent mans reputation which i fined totally shocking
