Is it worth finding a different liberation site for the future?

Is Phillipe Martin who writes in the BHW. not a member of some Gurnay Society? I think he has a contact mail address on his articles.

Ayrshire are at Arniston----if that's how it's spelt. In view of some of the nightmare returns I hear about I am happy we are experimenting with liberation sites and a programme of short races this year. Obviously it's not a guarantee of a full loft at the end of the year but it's been helpful so far. I hope our good fortune continues

Ayrshire fed taking just over an hour for approximately 48 miles. Sent 18 and 16 home pretty quickly.

Ayrshire---overcast with drizzle and a light wind which will freshen later. There are occasional breaks in the cloud.

Not sure but I think it is a car park which is also used by Ayrshire North Roaders.

I think many fanciers thought like that. There's always next week. I took the chance and sent them all last week so there is time for them yet. I assume you will enjoy some retail therapy tomorrow

Looks like a correct decision to me. The weekend is only wasted if we throw away youngsters as has happened so often. Our transporter leaves tonight for the race point but most of mine are at home---my choice.

I had the Denny pigeons a few years ago---the year after he had an exceptional race from Pau. The produced several reasonable pigeons mainly crossed. These were the old pigeons---Bordeaux Cock, Classic Lad, Blue Pau lines. I believe the dark pigeons Brian races now have some of these lines but a fair proportion of Van Hee through Fallowhill Superstar. Brian's policy is to introduce youngsters and subject them to the type of racing he prefers. If they survive he breeds from them. If we all did that rather than putting them straight to stock we may have less rubbish. You will not meet a more genuine couple than Brian and Thelma Denny.

I have a gamekeeper friend who reputedly caused permanent damage to his health spraying pheasant enclosures with Virkon----Treat it with respect.

Just viewed the clip---looks pretty distant but definately large. Also noted an attack on a horse in south Ayrshire thought to be by a Puma.

Agreed we all vent our feelings initially then start to see the positives and move on from there.

I have followed this thread with interest. We had a disasterous first race of the season but for the second race we changed route to try to that the birds did not clash. We also reduced the distance to between 30 and 40 miles. The outcome was that we had almost 100% returns from the second race. I know this is a complex problem but there have been some excellent points raised on this thread and I have found it very informative.

Some good information/discussion on this thread. I believe Ian Axe bought the 2 National winners of Phil Heslop of Annan which were bred from his bloodlines. I remember the guy I had mine from speaking of David Mc Neilly.

My opinion is it's down to a poor quality nest either due to lack of nesting material or the birds just not building. I think the leg issue is unlikely to improve.
