  1. Provide the weather forecast is favourable my opinion is that the yearlings will gain experience from every race. However there would have been little point in committing them to a 250 mile race with a poor weather forecast.
  2. Ayrshire lib at 08:00 into a light SW win from Appleby.
  3. I live about 10 miles from Irvine and have not seen his name on results. He is certainly not one of the more prominent racers from that area.

    NL2008-1217945

ETS with Rubber ring suggests it was entered in a National. No wing stamp suggests a National under SHU rules---possibly S.N.F.C.

    newbury snfc

I spoke with 2 fanciers this morning 0 from3 and 2 from 9. Both have been consistent all season. Returns seem mixed.
  6. Once again I think you need to check your facts. I know what transporter my birds were in. The same one they were in last 2 weeks which puts them at a distinct disadvantage. Once again I should reiterate that I am not not and I am unlikely to ever be classed as your mate. As far as my brain is concerned I think it's done ok in the past and should continue to serve me well for some time.
  7. Please try to understand the following 1 I am not your mate and I am unlikely to ever seek that dubious honour. 2 I have never fallen out with anyone. 3 I am a SHU member. 4 I have pigeons in the SNFC convoy Given all of the above it certainly looks as though I support the SHU and my federation as much as you do. More importantly I suppory the SNFC more than you ever have. Home truths can only ever be classed as that if they are actually true and not a figment of someone's imagination. So please, I have had a disappointing race today but expected this following a long spell confined to a basket on a transporter hardly worthy of carrying turkeys to a slaughter,
  8. I am afraid you are in no position to give me or anyone else a few home truths. My comment had nothing to do with nationals. It was about your negativity. Perhaps if you spent as much time with your birds as you do talking rubbish and criticising on here then "wee Mac's" task would be less easy.
  9. It's interesting to see you never have anything positive to say on any subject. I have trouble trying to decide whether you are -- 1 a windup merchant 2 Simply sick or a combination of both. Your comments would only be valid if you had a few results to back them
  10. Ayrshire bright skies and cool easterly breeze. By far the best day recently.

    Genuine Newbies

I have no idea who we are discussing here but I think we all deserve enlightenment. However they are not the first and will not be the last to attempt to deceive.
  12. It's unlikely the west section will triumph simply because of the difference in terrain from one side of the country to the other-----I think they actually need a south easterly wind to let this happen. However I hope they do triumph and that returns will be good.

Your posts certainly look genuine to me. You will have nothing but good advice and assistance on this site.

    Crows

I've never caught a crow in mine but then I never have any in the garden. I have, however caught magpies and jackdaws in a Larssen trap.
  16. Well done from me
  17. Well done to Sandy Bain
  18. Sorry but I don't see anything wrong with my tone. I am trying to be constructive. I have requested a bit more information from you so that we can all understand the theory. I was never aware that I had to subscribe to see the chart or that there was a charge for doing so. I have accessed it from a link on this site before. I am totally in favour of any steps we can take to avoid losses.
  19. I don't disagree with what you are saying but I think you need to be more specific to prove that you are not talking 98% sh** to impress the more gullible amongst us. I am not convinced that there is a link between an earth tremor and what I would call "atmospherics". I appreciate that an earth tremor may interfere with homing ability. I wonder what we actually mean when we talk about atmospherics---is it a build up of static electricity in the atmosphere for example. Can we measure the paramaters which are undesireable? Can we draw limits to say that above this level we should not liberate? If we can resolve these issues then we are on our way towards better racing. When I first started using this site a year ago we were often given a link to a chart which predicted poor racing. I have not seen reference made to this in some time. It would be interesting to see what it predicted for the last 3 weekends. It would be good to debate this .
  20. I have a friend from Witney---close to Newbury he said they had had a high temperature last week which would probably result in thunder.
  21. I was told last night that one part of the convoy was on the Ballochmyle transporter which is even more debatable. When some fanciers found out what was happening on Thursday evening they took their birds to an alternative marking station to ensure that they were not beaten before liberation.
  22. Thanks for that information. Really up against it this weekend.
  23. Occasional showers but mostly clear blue skies fresh easterly winds. I have bee outdoors most of the morning wearing a jacket and hat. That tells me it's too cold for pigeon racing.
  24. Well done Harry. I hope it was a Chequer Cock
  25. R. Reid times yearling at 05:46 am in Ayrshire
