  1. aye but sparrowhawk kills more round my loft than the local peregrines do and most don't have their birds out in November because of them
  2. Being devils advocate here but most years once we get past the first three or four races and the remaining birds are more experienced and the poorly trained, sick and incapable pigeons are long gone we seem to get better racing and returns when there must be the same large amount of peregrines still in the sky. Back to Derek's original post,November racing means going to race points even after the clocks have gone back and up here the sparrowhawks are back on the go by then
  3. Andy I struggle with latebreds and have tried many times with many methods over forty years and if I assume i had 15 every year then the total over that time would be 600 and very few have made the grade. When you say you noticed no difference did your raced ybs perform well as yearlings and your latebreds match them or did they all perform less well than you had hoped ?
  4. Too late in the year for me,not sure weather in November up here suitable and half the fancy still would not be ready jmo
  5. Well done john, big team ,small team ,it don't matter

  10. So it's brechin on Saturday good!!sorted !! Do you still need clubs birdages for dunfermline 2 if we get there ?
  11. Please tell me you never voted for any of those two
  12. Tossed 120 club birds @ 8.20 this morning, great weather with excellent returns, can't tell you where from until after polls close but it starts with a B Might try the F word tomorrow
  13. Would be good to know as a few of us hope to train down there tomorrow
  14. Good question, our club has heard nowt so far !!
  15. Understood chris,my point was a race is better than none and even a toss if possible this week for those who have not yet started would be prefferable (given that only 31 members out of 102sent to first race), That would then give us the chance of continuing the programme (weather permitting) as normal. Having done the job myself i know that it would be a risk and a thankless task if weather once again screws it up but worth considering P.s. If we are ever really really really desperate how you at babysitting
  16. Having three foster children is not what I would call not working chris!!
  17. If the choice is between a midweek race and no race then it's a no brainer, season is short enough without missing a race
  18. Bet he got a cuppa from ye

  21. Agreed Gavin, the point I was trying to make s that I wouldn't put it down to raptors,I only put a small team because of wind
  22. Heat, very humid/thunder conditions and East winds coupled with a pretty patchy first race, birds of prey are always going to be a factor but don't think they would produce such slow vels all round. Friday when we tossed there was hot, quite misty and birds homed on time, but there was no east wind
  23. Agreed ryan, exactly the point i was trying to make
  24. Agreed Ronnie it's stopped being fun
  25. Bob i am not going to respond to that comment as it is beneath contempt, Never in my time have i seen such a poor race.. from 60miles, 5 hours between my first two birds.
