1975 was Jock Poole and it was a north west wind and we were 53rd open BUT the most of the birds were sent from the west and everyone flew the traditional route so im afraid you've entered the twilight zone pal lol. Yer lassies team could beat the big team the noo Stevie lol, ps thought you were working ??? lol
I came in about an hour ago and looked at my base station in the shed. Id left the door open about a foot and the sun had roasted the hell out it. The screen had turned blue and was unreadable. I turned everything off and cooled it down and turned it on again after half an hour and its back to normal. I think ive been lucky coming back in when I did as it could've been a lot worse. Be warned, keep your base station out of the sun.
Stevie, I think its a great decision as I don't see a race at the weekend. So, it would probably be Monday or Tuesday, fk that when they can go up early.
Who said their were no pigeons lost Andy, this has been the worst National year I can remember. Myself, Buckingham 12/14 ( lost Malkie ) Littlehampton 11/18 ( lost a few good yins incl my timer from Buck ) Reims 2/8 ( 6 of my best away ) Ancenis 2/3 ( lost doo that had won £2500 ) Ypres 5/9 = 32 home from 52 sent , that means 61% home from all nationals, brutal.
Im enjoying this thread, its what Pigeon Basics is about, opinions without hidden agendas or nastiness. The beauty of the pigeon game is that nothing is set in stone . Basically, if we asked all the top pigeon fliers in the Uk about their systems, they would all contradict each other. That's what makes the sport intriguing.
If you've seen the video then there is no sun visible, no shadows of pigeons or transporter. Total cloud cover, these are the worst conditions to liberate pigeons, from 30 miles never mind 580mls, imho.
I totally agree Vinnie, a good fancier I know once said to me he could pick 2 members out of every club in every section of the SNFC/SNRPC and send them onto the east coast and they would be superstars overnight. Even flying in your designated section is still very unfair at times when you have fliers 26 miles east and south of you. These superstars mentioned on this thread will have a 100 MILE line of folk queuing up wanting to buy their ybs ( or will they ? ) However, we will carry on regardless , good luck to everyone going to Roye.
