  1. i think one reason they went east was because most feds now race an easterly route. i think if there is any west in the wind many of the birds dont cross into england but go up into belgium and holland etc. i find there are always birds "on time" on a decent day then they just stop and very few ever turn up. if all the birds reached the mainland i would expect at least 75 - 80% returns within a few days
  2. i agree entirely with your comments and i also said in an earlier thread that the ypres race is affecting the reims entry because the shorter distance seems to appeal to some members as it should obviously be easier.
  3. i remeber raeding an article (joe murphy i think) and he noted the number of birds which were on the result more than once from the longest race. they are a special breed and sadly many of them will not have made it from this latest disaster. this already must have an effect on next years entry from wherever it may be
  4. how many have been timed in to each station?
  5. how do you know the birds are not up to it. it has been a difficult race for those who sent. there seemed to be very few timed into yorkshire last night flying almost 150 - 200 miles less. are their birds not up to it either? there were very few nfc birds from tarbes doing over 1100 and less than 30 timed on the day from a 5.40 liberation. going by the losses your fed has most of them are no up to flying more than 100 miles

    Clock Rules

rpra rules must be different from shu. common sense should prevail unfortunately there are folk who would go out of their way to get someone disqualified even if they have done nothing wrong. however if its a rpra rule dont seem much you can do about it except change the rule for next year
  7. if spain win and scotland beat them in the euro qualifiers we will then be world champions. i will now wake up!!!
  8. got to agree with other posts how anyone could liberate at thurso today is beyond me. the weather on the east of scotland has been terrible all day. it may have been ok at thurso but no way could they have checked line of flight
  9. approx 516 to newmains
  10. how many organisations are on the transporter. dont like the idea of multiple liberations
  11. time you were on the committee jamie. you talk a lot of sense. in my opinion the way the committee is "elected" at the agm is a shambles.
  12. and the doo as well
  13. think we need to drop one inland national. they get well supported but the losses seem to be high. Reims seems about right for Gold Cup tho I dont see why date has to be set in stone. Tours is about the right distance for the longest race ideally as the last race but i am aware we have to tie in with another organisation. Whether their is room for both Ypres and Clermont is a hard one. Ypres seems to be popular but probably because it is shorter and ideal for widowers. It is also off line and ghives distorted distances to some members. The entries would obviously increase if there was only one national club but it dont look like that is going to happen in the next couple of years. It will eventually though forced by numbers or rather lack of!!
  14. well done to all. section c has excelled once again
