fact of the matter is, that its his bird and if he wants it back give him it back.........and he will either have to collect it himself or send a courrier..... simple.

thanks or the advise cemetary, but last time i asked the vet about treating a pigeon he nearly had a panic attack.........wouldnt even have a look at the bird and suggested i consult a specailist avian vet.

phoned the pigeon pharmacy for the colombovac vaccine but was told they were out of stock, can anyone suggest any other make or suppliers as our yb racing starts in just over three weeks time.......thanks.

my ybs are not eating as much as usual, im putting it down to the weather...........also ive found that if they do eat the normal amount they dont digest it as quick therefor when i let mine out the day after some wouldnt come into the loft because they werent hungry, this is just my opinion tho so others will think differently.......ive found that this hot weather has thrown my routine out a lot re trapping/exercising etc.

so would there be any benefit by leaving them on it, or would it make any difference to them if i take them off it now even though they havnt completed the moult.....?

taking my ybs off dark tommorrow as its the longest day (told this is when to do it) problem is that the older ybs are like yearlings but the second round/later ybs in a seperate section are dropping to bits and will need another few weeks to complete the moult........do i keep them on the dark or do i need to take them off now.

you said yourself, the hens are pairing up to each other..........so they arnt going to be as keen with the cock they are paired to maybe ? also was reading article today and the fancier said sometimes over use of the hen when racing widowhood is not good, something worth thinking about maybe ?

wouldnt put too much faith in eyesign, yes its nice to see a rich interesting eye but if the birds are managed correctly the only real way to judge is how they perform racing, it seems most eyesign "experts" can tell a very good story about an eye once it has won and very rarely before.......if anyone can come to my loft and pick winners out and tell me exactly how each bird has performed, then i will put my full faith into it, i belive certain types of eye within a family which have raced well could be watched out for and /raced with the knowleage they would do some good.......but thats about all. good managemengt, good birds......dont waste your time on looking at the eyes, lets face it most pigeons are no good anyway.

noticed on all my dark ybs which are looking like yearlings now that the bottom part of the bar on all of them hasnt moulted out and got new feathers, is this normal on dark ybs.....?

just been in to read my emails and ive over 400 topic notifications from pigeon basics, seems every time someone makes a new post or does a reply it sends me an email !!!!!!!! it didnt do this before with the old basics site, is there any settings i need to alter to stop this ........?

yes, had some excellent advise from members re yb feeding.......altho most members have their own system i can use the info to form my own idea of what to try and see how they exercise and trap. thanks everyone.............

thanks for the advise and help everyone, decided to try 1/3rd barley, 1/3rd yb no maize and 1/3rd widowhood............1 oz per bird to start with and if they eat it all then ill give extra 1/4 oz each making it 1 and 1/4 oz each per day, this will be fed once a day after morning exercise, what do you think ?

thanks for the replies, at first i was feeding as much as they wanted of barley and widowood once a day after morning exercise........but the next morning they were reluctant to come in when called, also i dont have traps as i use the open door which means they can come in and out as im calling the later trappers in which is a nightmare......shoulf i add more widowhood mix to the barley of go back onto the yb no maize mix ? thanks.

Today at 8:23 pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i know ive asked this question a few times before , but im still no wiser...........was giving yb a yb no maize mix 1 oz per bird per day, fed twice a day.......with this i had trouble getting them in after exercise so someone suggested this mix was too high in protien and said give them 2/3 rds barley and 1/3/rd widowood mix 1 oz per bird per day........now they seem starving so i dont know what to do as they are either not hungry or too hungry, at the moment my ybs are doing very little flying and most days just walk around the garden or flutter a couple of laps around the loft, yesterday a fancier said i should be feeding them 1 oz per day or versela laga dark corn which is for dark ybs..... any thoughts anyone please ?

hi, ive used the boss pellets but found them no different from the g10 pellets........ive found they are all the same and can tell no difference in the ybs whichever is used, i do like to use pellets when rearing ybs so will continue to use either.

i give maybe 2 - 3 per bird, but no more as too many is not good.......also they need to be fresh as they can get mould on them if a few days old.

didnt like the new layout when i first came back on, but its no different to the old basics really apart from a more modern look about it........most members would have mainly just used the portal anyway so as it has the portal button on the navigation bar whats any different ? yes some things are different ie pm`s etc, but the main site and getting around it isnt difficult in any way, and im no computer expert.............
