  1. Congratulations Kieran, hope its only the beginning of many, look forward to seeing the pics, well done.
  2. Again not being Scotish,my own iterpataion would be one National Flying Club in any Country, with more than one they obviously detract from each other, not to even mention finances,to offset the valid points made by jonj 1978,I would pay particular attention to each Section winner with plaudits and financial rewards, especially in those shorter races,ie First three in Each Section receiving the prizes
  3. Roland At this stage it has to be about change, whichever way it happens hopefully for the better, the people there have had adequate time to bring the game forward, this concerns most Unions, stagnation is an apt description,we have basically nineteenth century rules, tinkered with, added to,but basically with very little relevance to today's problems, one issue I wish to highlight,a member wins more than his share, mostly through his dedication, quality of birds, facts all members should try and emulate, result being, other members form new club, exclude this member, exclude this person for no other reason, than his ability!!, it happens no rule broken,we put these people there, never thinking we would have to maintain a constant guard on how they administer, why are they so apparently out of touch with whats required, why should members ,again have to pay for a P.R.firm,when we are doling out monies, again created by members, while there are still so many issues unresolved, power corrupts, and absolute power absolutely corrupts, with this in mind introduce postal ballots for all existing members, they are elected through postal ballot, for a max of four years, they don't act for members, they are out, next election, members take back their most fundamental right,if I pay the piper I call the tune
  4. Roland no doubt you are mostly correct in your summarisation, couldnt really find faul with anything you say,but how are Council ever going to LISTEN,without some form of drastic actin,a case in point being the method of the introduction of the E.T.S. where exactly were the majority of members wishes then.
  5. ;D ;D ;D ;D Welcome back Dovescot,Good One.
  6. Roland To recognise things are wrong, and not to take action to redress situation is possibly the greatest form of apathy of all, this will turn us into wallowers, better some indeed any course of action be acted upon, nobody says it has to be totally right in the beginning, but the very fact that you have acted upon it by recognising how flawed it is will surely guarantee the end result can only be an improvement, unions are at present due to their administrators and their ostrich outlook, and their antiquidated rules with many apparently contradicting each other in no position to go forward,or even heal their own inefficiencies,to bring in P.R people at this stage would only paper over the cracks,P.R is essential for our sport, but its important we get our own house in order first, and its nigh on impossible to do this from within, those in authority and our outdated administration makes this impossible,so it has to be from outside, the members monies is the lifeblood of the unions,on an ongoing basis, remove this, and in this instance,if you pay the piper its expected you call the tune, have seen a good deal of my life-years involved with this pigeon sport, and undoubtedly its regressing at an alarming rate, akin to a bunch of Lemmings, searching for a clifftop, this thread is gone off track,I am also guilty of doing so,as for Karen, she being an insider has stated something the majority are aware of and believe, also with more factual insight than we have, yet she is be punished by those who purport to represent our interests,it cant be right from my logic,so yes my name is on petition,as should I believe every fancier who thinks there are still some honesty and decentl values left among us
  7. Roland ,I thought Germany was referred to as the Fatherland.
  8. Every fancier should at least get their signature on the petition sheet,to my line of thinking it shows what Karen has said to be absolutely correct, she only said what the majority of fanciers are thinking, unsafe working conditions/practice,pointing out how inept a lot are at the top,how out of touch they are with the file fanciers, sometimes treating them with total disdain,E.T.S.Predators Problems and many other issues, how many realize this, the Sport is losing members hand over fist, top heavy with non pigeon people, strangled with its own incompetence ,totaly incapable of bringing the Sport forward, why not let proceeds from Blackpool stay within,To punish someone for what the majority of fanciers already know,is wrong, and for fanciers to sit by and allow it to happen, this is where the real wrong is .
  9. Would agree with rooster it appears to be very good value for asking price, there are lots of variables as regards breeding, its usually down to buyer how competent they are at matching birds, buyer should always keep this in mind, but for these type of distance bloodlines, easily well worth the money asked in my opinion. I have just read where Red Chg has posted a money back return if not satisfied, fair play, dont see a lot of that about, well done R.C 1.
  10. Well spotted Maxwell,early bird and all that,l o l.

We would have to put them a long way back keep up with some on here. ;D ;D
  12. Its in the interest of any,who might have info, regarding this theft to make contact, because it could be your turn next, birds just don't disappear, someone somewhere knows somebody who is the better off by a 100 Birmingham Rollers, theres also a £250 reward for info leading to return of birds.
  13. In answer to the question as asked, is the one that finishes in front of 90% of entrants as opposed to 10% regardless of distance/weather has surely got have more merit.

  21. From my own point of view,if there is a more obliging person on this site than Mick aka GangsterI would certainly love to meet him/her,if there should be a Fancier of the Year elected on here,Mick will have my vote, have never seen only whats good in this sport of ours from him, helpfulness, courtesy, advise, favours, nothing ever it appears too much trouble, and always and ever ,the laugh, and joke. Go mile mhaite aguit a chara, and looking forward to meeting you in person at The Dublin Show on the 8th of November.
  22. Joe 61 I find your post somewhat puzzling, considering an earlier post of yours stating you have several Staffies.
  23. Lots of good and valid reasons being posted, and undoubtly more to come, but you wouldnt go too far wrong if the above was applied
  24. You would have to begin to sort out our own house first, and as Larry states " right leadership in right chairs"my own slant on this would be A union Sec,who works in conjunction with regional Secs, with clubs formed and existing on a geographical basis, with clubs similar club rules set almost in stone, especially the one relating to ungentlemanly conduct,no new clubs forming for reasons willy nilly, with the leaderships eyes, set on the bigger picture at all times, all the while the onus being on raising the profile of the Sport, its a feasibility to have one outlet in each area providing all Pigeon foods and accessories, medicines etc, ideally clubs would order feeding in bulk, curtailing most of the middle mans profits, there is so much which could be done,"if we had the right people on the right chairs"there are so many issues that need addressing, why didn't the unions buy in bulk from one manufacturer those E.T.S. systems, which surely would make them a cheaper viability for fanciers, with also possibility of some profits back into Union funds, what are they doing about something likewise with E.T.S.rings,which are now an annual requirement.
  25. My own way, especially in close season, peel three cloves, slice, without breaking, place in net bag,put into a two gallon container, always filled overnight, drinkers are filled on a daily basis from this, with the garlic left in until its almost mush, when it begins again, days when its like soup, and you can smell it at 10ft, race/breeding season its changed be fore it gets "mushy",usually at the rate of two weeks on/two weeks off garlic.
