Roland while I wouldnt disagree with your views as regards a professional team of P.R. people, but to fund such a concept at this stage would be prohibitive,there is definitely enough grey matter on this site to prevent a valid and useful topic,without sterotyping ourselves, study and examine R.S.P.B findings and see and realize how contrdictory these are,Raptors an endangered species,yet every historical nesting site is occupied,hence the reason at considerable cost for erection of breeding platforms,where Raptors have never bred before,many other species of songbirds are on the endangered almost extinct list,yet Raptors have never been more plentiful,this is the direction we should be coming from,with the many others being affected by the Raptor bodies being masqueraded as R.S.P.B, a half page ad in the Nationals depicting a Sparrow Hawk slivering the flesh from a still live Thrush/lackbird/Pigeon,with a caption Guess which one The R.SP.B spend your monies to Protect,get in on these sites Roland read the mantra thats been propagated and discussed,there are very many,even among their own unhappy with the path the R.S.P.B have gone down. Now surely its not beyond us to fund the cost of an ad say on a monthly basis.

None thats documented Rose,very good article on Tooth & Claw regarding same,shows the mindset of these Raptor people,and their "concerns" for fanciers,well worth viewing for all pigeon fanciers,if nothing else,it gives a thorough insight into what we are faced by concerning Raptors.

I am on a bit of a roll here,what about Invalidusername for our P R. person,he has in my opinion the essential skills for this,if he would agree to it.also likewise with Dovescott, Rose, and Chris.

In fairness there are a good deal of people on here ,non fanciers,who have apparent issues with R.S.P.B

Would agree with your choice Chris,what about Dovescott for Sec,good business accumen and indepth knowledge of computers,also this movement needs a "name"with your self as Trustee

Maybe now at this stage a Committee might be formed to programe these correctly and with clarity.

Our governing bodies as of yet have shown no interest with locking horns with the R.SP.B with the exception of the S.H.U. who have been met with mostly apathy from fanciers,and red tape,lies,and gobblydegook from Raptor bodies,this is a good idea, a three or four person committee,to spearhead it,and onwards from there.

I do see this point of discussion,a 10 ft loft designed correctly can be as healthy and benifical for sixty occupants,as a 10ft badly designed one,can be as harmful to 10 occupants,we tend to equate our charges from a human perspective,which is indeed a no no,and we apparently slavishly imitate others,,as the correct and only way,there are very many ways,nothing is set in stone.

There is no reason why this effort cant be formidable,at this point we need approx three in number to spearhead it for us, one being a Treasurer,and the others both "grafters" with good P.R. skills,what does the Forum think. J.M.O.

This is a marvellous idea,if its done proper,a professional film made and sold/given to interested T.V media showing what has been suggested above,but with the human angle being paramount,use the facts compiled by R.S.P.B which are very contradictory,and show little Johnny/Susan enjoying all aspects of their birds,with the almost eventual outcome their favourite being torn asunder by a perigrine/sparrow,with them waiting at their loft for it,and its youngsters in nest bowl,its a sure fire winner if you want to educate the public, I would like to see a three person committee,spearheading this,my own choice would be Chris,Rose,and Dave aka Invalidusername,if they are agreable,we have got hold of something here,keep it going.

Bluedoo Last I heard this had been postponed,due to proximity of their breeding season,whats the betting it will never be effected now.

As well as a trailer I would go down the road of a full page or half page advertisement in a National paper regarding the facts of these Raptors,join forces with songbird people,tippler men,roller men, gamekeepers,landowners,but first of all educate them in the facts,regarding the overpopulation of these Raptors and the detrimental effect they have on our pigeons,and song birds,educate the public as to where their donations regarding songbirds are going,to the already overpopulation of the predators thats killing them,with a great big picture of a sparrowhawk,stripping a thrush,should go well with the cornflakes,let the public know they are being duped by the R.S.P.B.

Bigda Tooth & Claw is an Open Forum with all points of view being allowed,as for them coming to us,dont think so,but we should be going to them and informing them of our concerns,problems,regarding our birds,and indeed all threatened species of birds,which in my opinion is a lot of the time down to the protection and breeding programes of Bird of Prey which are formulated and funded by the R.S.P.B ,nothing to stop anyone doing this in a factual and civil manner,but sadly not enough of us do this.

We cant Vic,we have to learn to live with it now, common sense tells us that if you cant eradicate it,I dont have any issues with any fancier,whose birds are sufering with these illnesses to treat accordingly for it with whatsever required,its the thought of pumping stuff into them blindly to prevent something thats in all probability not present is the real problem,I imagine as Bigda says earlier with its close affinity to Salmonella, its possible a carrier can be recognised,if your observent,and if so then eradicate it.

Most of it is just banter and enjoyable,and when anyone does resort to being insulting,it reflects badly on themselves,after all its mostly adults posting,and we are capable of drawing our own conclusions,and making our own minds up about things.

Well oddly enough now Me,I was giving it some thought as to what Bigda posted,being open minded etc,and quite a lot can be learned from just watching the wing action of our doos,something to ponder on.
