    Losses?

M e I have raced North from Thurso,to France in the South, its no big deal,if you have got the birds, and naturally like most fanciers I tend to think quite a lot of my birds, and its for this reason I will not put Antbios into them, unless they need it,which thankfully they havent for a good number of years now,and any one who does it "blindly" is basically responsible for the new illnesses yet to come.

    Losses?

Approx four years ago,I was informed in the greates confidence, this Para innoculation with the course of Baytril previous ,was needed, most fanciers birds were suffering from it,with the fanciers unaware of it,and when cleared, birds race out of their skin, and so it became the latest hush hush secret, with only the Chemists the real winner.Funny enough the confidant who used it then, doesnt now.

    Losses?

If it does or when it does, whichever,it is there courtesy of fanciers with similar lines of thought to yours,Nature decrees its survival of the fittest, those who use chemicals to prop up their birds health, are in direct conflict with this, only for a time, she will mutate it,and it will be something else in 5 or 10 years time.

    Losses?

Now if and when it shows in your loft, eradicate the carriers, much better in the long run to naturally repress the host, than treat all willy nilly with anti biotics, which in turn will create a more virulent and lethal bacteria, capable of even more damage, and on and on it goes, actually to think for one moment you can best Nature is more Luddite thinking than other lines of thought, you may tweak or fool it for a period of time, but man can never best it,to think so is foolish, and back to original question Losses, there are many reasons, sickness being just one,a whole barrell load of them,my own favourite is there is too much crap being bred, twice as many rings issued this season as there was 30 years ago,yet only half the fanciers now in the game as there was 30 years ago, what is this telling us.

    Losses?

Well then I am another Luddite, thankfully, with two lofts of free range healthy racing birds, also a kit of rollers thanks to no doubt mostly old fashioned common sense stockmanship, I would I am sure use an anti-biotic if and when needed,it hasnt been for many years, nil, only the regular P.M.V. vaccination, and this beacuse its compulsory, would urge any fancier,to get back to basics, especially newbies to begin this way, even Medical Science is finding using anti-biotics willy nilly are causing more problems than they solve, you can find as much benifit for our birds on supermarket shelves, for a fraction of what similar costs elsewhere,as for results when racing,as good if not better than many of those who appear to have a degree from Vetrinary College, putting this gunk into birds on a regular basis, has payback time eventuallyt.

  9. Reading back on the posts, its definitely a dirty thing to do,he made several bids,so you can omit a rush of blood to the head scenario, comes across to me as being done intentional, also the offer by No 1 was a very nice gesture, what if this had not been offered, reverting back to runner up receiving bird, wouldnt Chucka in all probability be possibily paying over the odds in Auction, hope you do catch up with him No 1,he deserves anything he gets. Good Luck to Chucka with bird, hope it breeds the goods for you. Although No 1 is the loser on this occassion, its in all our interests, that this doesnt happen again,so if anyone might know who this guy is,point No 1 in his direction.

Theres times when you should put your brain in gear before putting your mouth in motion, and this was one of them, reading correctly like you might have done Chris has got shut of some top class birds, with all monies going to Cancer Research, and for this fact he is to be admired, and for anyone to take cheap shots at these efforts, shows a serious callousness.
