Strapper.due recognition also to his good wife Pat,who is also a top fancier, had the pleasure of visiting some time ago,top class birds, and a top class partnership, in short very nice people, with possibily the most scenic loft location you could imagine, and I wish them every success.
-
Also well done to Cottage Lofts on their Section win.
-
Well done Albear,nice result.
-
What about an Article in local Newspaper, likewise with Local Radio,to give yourself a kickstart, also Councils/R.S.P.C.A.,notify Vets in area, and any Bird/Animal Shelters.

Carry on and do it Bewtd, under no circumstances is feelings on this or any other Pigeon site conductive of Pigeion Fanciers in general there is a crying need for this service,in all Countries on a nationwide basis,we have a duty to our pigeons, and the also the public,to show that we care,as of yet as far as I am aware pigeons are not a commidity, like most items in to days society,to be thrown away, sooner we wake up and realize this, maybe the public might have a better opinion of us.
-
Expect so Bewtd, you would think they should be all for a stray collection service, after all they breed so many of them.
-
The word I would use Bewtd is APATHY,watch how often it can be used when it comes to the welfare of the birds.

I am quite sure I wouldnt have a problem helping out new fanciers in any way I could, but often when anything is acquired with too much ease, its not appreciated, not in all cases,I might add,but you have got to ask yourelf in the general scheme of things,do you give because someone may ask once,"maybe" if you sit back a while, and judge their level of endevour and committment to suceed, then help them out,how many newbies, having been fitted out with the nessecities, are never heard of again, there is definitely a line to be drawn there somewhere.

They constsntly hunt in pairs, except for a short period when she is incubating, and now very shortly they will be hunting as a family, then the real slaughter starts, would imagine the 03 bird has been taken,o8 well its possible they have gone a.w.o.l.
-
Stormy,do they have competions for parlour rollers ,or is it just peronal preference, or is it speed, length, what defines the best ones.
-
Very nice Stormy and occcupants looking well also, credit to you.
-
Go into Roller Discussion Board, Dovescot, click into U.K.SEction most of the top roller guys are on that

Carbos, fed accordingly for Rollers that are working is right and proper, but its not benifical to long term condition to feed only carbs constantly, there is a time when proteins have got to be fed,and subsequently their rolling and work rate will diminish accordingly, but Storm is correct they have to be controlled, again its a fascinating hobby,to master it correctly requires patience, dedication, and no little effort, and decent birds.

It will not make one bit of difference whatever protest we do,they will not budge, and they have the laws of the land on their side, and the greater anmount of the public brainwashed,if we were to stop racing at this moment in time,in all probability half of this seasons nestlings would die of hunger, like all species, there are good an dbad hunters,Nature decrees only the finest survives, not so with Perigrines, these each and every one of them are being subsidised with protein parcels in abundance at a time when need mosti their breeding season/our racing season, racing pigeons are such an easy prey without any great effort, its unbeliveable, good hunters and bad hunters can survive quite easialy and procreate with large amounts of young, remove this easy acess to their rich protein food, let them survive on a diet of wild birds, half of them will perish withinn two years, differnt ball game then, trying to rear four chicks in a nest, when your prey is steeped in survival skills, much more energy expended hunting catching same, and when caught how many crows, starlings, finches, doves is required to equate to just one racing pigeon in protein, put some thought into it,its not a lost cause yet,our biggest enmy is not R.S.P.B but ourselves, as Roland says there is nothing to stop us racing a somewhat reduced race programe, its a real catch 22 situation, the primary loser in all this is pigeon fanciers, and yet we are most responsible for their population explosion.
-
Cant say you are wrong regarding these thoughts, J but the bottom line is,this aint ever going to happen, this problem has affected many fanciers and their birds, for a good number of years,in my own case 1983 when we started being attacked on a fairly regulr basis, what have the Unioins done in this time, sweet F.A. with the exception of the S.H.U.who attempted to address it and were met with lies, untruths, and total indifference,by these Orgzs and Raptor Groups, passive resistance went out with Ghandi, fire with fire, help yourself, because nobody else will, sad but true. Rolands therory would be workable and very effective, and would stabilize at first and eventually reduce this overpopulation of B.O.P.now guess who the biggest opponents of this would be, Pigeon Fanciers.
-
Hope you get the rest, but we do need a reality check here for racing fanciers, check out Derby Web Cam,observe these four beauts, amount of birds required to feed and sustain them, imagine how many nest sites this is happening in,what will it be like in just five years time,if it continues as it is now, we will have a new concept in racing, all survivors get a red card.
-
Soon as they start to range, they are started on their education, 5 mls all points of compass, eventually worked out to 20 miles line of flight, late evening tossing 4/5 times per weektill first,no further tossing.races only
-
Dont think Channel racing will ever end,but agree its financial sucide for Feds to include these type races on programe
-
Yes
-
Go to a good consistent flyer, making sure his lines are working well for others, purchase latebreds off his best, at 25/30/£ ,ask questions, listen to him/her,keep fingers crossed, how many have paid big bucks for birds from fanciers, realizing too late,a lot of his success was down to his ability, and not his birds.
-
The above is solid advice, and should be carved in stone for all new fanciers, its not an easy game for established flyers, how hard must it be for newcomers, they should learn the basics first,i.e walk before you attempt to run.Nice one Les.

breeder buyers vs one lofts
Merlin replied to ChrisMaidment08's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
Yes one lofts do nothing to further our Sport, they were created as a money making idea.and I believe , lose their novelty popularity eventually for normal flyers Also agree regarding mob flyers,it happens no where else only in pigeon racing, clubs themselves should create more equalityby finding a middle road suitable for all flyers, with sulprus birds as trainers -
Micko If you want to remove from nest box, ideally a spare section is needed,as older birds tend to bully youngsters As you dont have a spare Section,I would leave them exit from box themselves when ready, bit later maybe, also bit stronger/cuter. It gets a little easier as you gain more experience, keep it simple and enjoy the birds. Just my opinion
