The whole set up is out of date,founded and based on an era,when it was basic simplicity itself,none of the above were an issue then, the fancy also being totally different,very little money about,lots of friendiless,characters,goodwill,and a feeling of camaradie,now its like many things,with a dog eat dog attitude in many cases,rules introduced yearly propping up others that have been exploited,sadly no forward planning at the top,lurching along blindly on yearly basis,a particulr case in point being introduction of E.T.S. against wishes of majority,based on an assumpation,did we need extra aggro this has/will cause,when we already have so many problems ,back to basics drawing board,wipe out start again,with the whole lot. With hindsight the biggest prolem is certainily ourselves. Me and You.

Its a bit much,as at 5 days old it needs to be kept warm 24/7 this is where the parent will struggle,but again its a question that can only supply its own answer.

Get a grip on yoursel Vic, Dave went to some bother to care for this bird,and i dont think the situation should be used for your rants,rightly/or wrongly,time and place,im sure,this is not it,what message does it send out to newbies,like yourself Vic I have also been keeping and racing pigeons for 56 years,and realize things have regressed a lot,but would rather dwell and highlight the positive side of it,such as the sheer satisfaction and enjoyment that I have had,and others may yet have,I dont say your wrong,and do respect your input and opinions,and while not in total agreement with them,would defend your right to expression,but as I say wrong time,wrong place Vic.

Once you have it sorted it will have been worth the wait,as there are top class rollermen on there with bags of advice regarding rollers

Had the good fortune to be involved at racing pigeons in similar conditions,definitely a whole different lifestyle, the enjoyment and laughter and camaradie which were always it appears present,were excellent,sadly along the way they appear to have been lost,and mores the pity,

Just a thought in relation to what Lennut posted,I find more often not there is more genuine respect and admiration among competing fanciers when you produce a bird to perfom at the distance,rather than a bird that does the job in a land race,is it I wonder although much fewer competitors,they are more genuine fanciers,again just my opinion,my own system would be depending on bird race out to approx 250,nest condition,with two or three 80 mile single ups,previous to basketing week.

Certainly Dave a yearling or older,dont think he is going to be choosy after being celibate for so long,what about writing the story for publication ,as regards whats taken place,with your own slant,initally being a non pigeon fancier,would make for interesting reading,regarding his past and your efforts in all this,once again well done on what you have done for this bird,you have at all times made his welfare most paramount.

A very interesting and informative site,but as a pigeon fancier and bird lover of most kinds I find it disgusting,on realizing the amount of effort being put in by so many to further the production of even more of these already overpopulated predators,at the expense of all types of birds,

Wish you well Slugmonkey with your youngsters in the 300 race,approx how many entries,how many lead in races before the big one,fair distance for young birds,on what date does it take place .
