  1. Very good Roland, heres another one ;D ;D ;D Two brothers constanly late for School, with one always later than the other ,Teachers thinks, got to sort this out. "Your late Jackson, what kept you" "Me breakfast Sir,me breakfast" and "What had you for your breakfast Jackson" "An Egg Sir An Egg" seing as he wasnt gonna be told more he says "Sit Down" fifteen minutes later the younger brother appears,What kept you Jackson, same answer "Me breakfast Sir me breakfast " right thinks the Teacher, now I will find out "Your brother who lives in the same house ,is here 15 minutes before you,he had an egg for his breakfast also, how come you are fifteen minutes later than him" __ " Had I spoon ,had I"!
  2. Fetch your bird back, keep it confined, for a week it shouldnt be a problem, why should you breed birds for someone, regarding that type of behaviour.

  4. Jimmy Why dont you have a lok on Birmingham Roller Forum,go into U.K. Sect, they are all Roller men, they will know where your nearest club is.
  5. Derby Web Cams and others are basically commercilism of Nature at its best,by so called Nature lovers, look how often the word"Donation" is mentioned, and D.V.D. for sale on a regular basis, absolutely nothing to do with Nature, young Perigrines rescued from ground on several occassions, reconstructed for T.V.cameras, whats natural about building breeding platforms on Cathedral,Greed and the filty lucre, are the reasons for these platforms, and any person who donates to R.S.P.B should really have a good think, as to what they are actually supporting bird life, or a circus.
  6. My own opinion is again you are to be commended for attempting to do something about these birds, which is an ever increasing problem, the task of covering the whole Country is daunting and would require a good deal of capital and a fleet of transport/drivers,an alternative might be a stray centre in specific areas, with driver/transport serving two specific areas, also door/door,with birds for furtherst areas, getting home ,in stages, area to area,it might be workable and cheaper along these lines ,whatever you decide I wish you all the best.
  7. All four are on the wing, along with both parents, making a formidable team of Assasins just how responsible are these and more like them for young bird losses, considering the factor of Young Perigrines being taught to hunt, and young pigeons being taught to home,in and around the same time.
  8. As these two parent birds dont have marker ring identification, safe to assume these are a pair not on official R.S.P.B. list.
  9. No problems with hatching or rearing,no matter where nests are situated and this is down thanks mainly to racing pigeons, its only going to get worse,as the majority of the fancy appear to be highly indifferent to the plight of their birds, APATHY once again seems to be the order of the day.
  10. Definitely Not.
  11. Just cant resist, Paulo listen to the wisdom and knowledge of the wise old sage, you have on tap there more often,ie your Dad
  12. Me, I think you should heed the voice of experience and wisdon "Grasshopper"in this instance your Dad.
  13. Get some suitable Electrical cable, outer core cut to suitable size, slit, open an apply all around breaks,it closes again, very effective splints, hang in sock,in box for 10 day with legs extended behind, being all thumbs I find this system most effective when fixing breaks.
  14. Very informative,thanks Roland

  16. I myself would term this thread,"The feel good factor" reading about a person in the begining with no interest in pigeons, finding, caring, looking, for advice, and much ,much, more, all the while a certain amount of innocencei showing in his lack of knowledge of birds, till eventually arriving where he is at to day, shades somewhat of my own early years in pigeons, long befor the advents of this sport .shaped me into a possibile cynical old grizzlie, good luck and best wishes to Invalid and his birds, and his apparently enjoyable journey, and sod the begrudgers, one line quip, etc merchants, what shines through on this thread for me ,is the people in the majority do care, this is no bad thing,as the man from down under says,Enjoy
  17. These are all new to me,did hear/read about them on occassions, and am totally naive regarding same, never having witnessed these virus,s can birds be immunized against them,is there any preventive measures could be used,is there any research being done on same.
  18. What distance has he got left to fly Paulo approx, hope he makes it

    stray birds

Would agree with that myself Chris, but dont think it would be passed for many reasons, some being, ring sales, loss of revenue, studs, sales, mostl commericilism I know, but this is the tail thats apparently wagging the dog, then you have the fanciers who rear and fly big teams, its possible also to retain same problems, though on a lesser scale. My own idea would be along the lines,of wait for i,say 1-50 per ring,Unions take only normal price of ring, stary centers subsidised by extra revenue raised, therby all who buy rings are helping out strays,in effect less rings ordered equates to reduction in strays, with centers,to help them other strays being handed, also by fanciers, back to own area,no reporting strays as such.

    stray birds

Got to agree with Les,pointless to introduce something thats not benifical,or workable, not easy to find a solution thats pleasing to everyone, but I am sure there is one.

    stray birds

Bewtd what you are doing regarding stray centre is commendable, and sincerely hope it works, big time, its an indication of how inept our orgz at top level are that something similar hasnt been, mooted and funded by them,in light of amount of failed race birds frequenting public places, as for binning birds,I am sure often there is no alternative to this,I very rarely do so myself, but it does exist, unions says" report and keep confined for at least 14 days" this is not practical for many and varied reasons, not forgetting if you deviate from any of these, you risk suspension, very few,can have stray (pigeons) about the place, illness, feeding, watering, careing for, phone calls, postage, general time consuming, and in90% of cases, the owner doesnt want it back,if it costs them, finance, time, travel, bother of any kind, but personally its our rules that create the situation as it is to day.

    stray birds

This is the big problem, most have neither contact no/wing stamp, and when contacted most fanciers make little effort to repatriate, more often putting onus on you to do so, this is the reality what lots of fanciers are faced with on an ongoing basis, depending on loft location, often caring for birds belonging to others who couldnt care less.
  24. Feed as normal on Friday Morning, remove drinker, replace drinker one hour before basketing.
  25. Leave well enough alone ,provide fresh nesting material if you wish to breed again,no nest felts,on occassions chicks will die at hatching ,if shell is too thick, calcium etc,or if chicks have any weakness, the effort to chip through egg can prove fatal, did chicks actually emerge from shells ? but definitely no black nest felts if breeding again.
