  1. Nature decrees that everything has its season,,the question is why would you want to breed so late/early parents will be under undue pressure, rearing and feeding youngsters when this sustenance should be for themselves growing new feathers etc, recharging their batteries for what Nature says is new breeding season, offspring are developing in cold winter months, little sunlight, short daylight hours, beginning moult, and double moulting flights next season, would never do it myself, without a very good reason,Nature is like swings and roundabouts, what you gain on one ,you might lose on the other,if you wish to go ahead, all the best,it can be done.
  2. The above says it all for me,as long as fanciers who are understanding of the "ills" of our sport sit idly by and allow it to happen, it will never improve ,rather it will keep on what is to me the downward slope, there are too many issues to sort out, perhaps it would be better to level it down, and begin again, starting at the top with our leadership, imagine the genuine hard core of caring fanciers are still present, sadly their voices are not heard for one reason or another, regarding the many issues bedeviling this sport, apparently in ever increasing numbers

    top guy

Would just like to endorse what above posts are saying, top guy,and definitelt a good judge of a pigeon.
  4. The above should be carved in stone and implemented, with clubs also coming under the same rule. If you look at the bigger picture.Breakaway clubs and feds etc, does the fancy no good whatsoever in the long run.
  5. While I dont disagree with the main viewpoints, the danger here is in the interpatation that may be taken from it,,treat with this health programe and you will win races, dont think so,there is an awful lot more goes in to producing winners on a regular basis, just to list some of the requirements, good birds, now that has to be number one,the rest in no particular order, training, feeding correctly, breeding, loft management, excercise, and motivation etc ,there is an abundance of things needed to produce winners, and this is what the Novices, and lots of more established fanciers should relaize, while a health programe may or may not be useful, unless the birds are up to it and all others are practiced,it wont be much use.while 82 Father won the last three races, its also down to good birds, and proper management of same, hardly a health programe alone. Personally I use very little of above health programe and birds win races, due to my efforts and theirs.,but to think this programe is the answer to all racing problems, dont think so. J.M.O.

  7. Happy Bithday Chicadee, enjoy the day. Duncan make a fuss of that lady
  8. Van Reets are obviously top class lines, how much of this is down to the fanciers who brought in these originals and cultivated them,Hession,Mardon, Pallett, and many others, remembering these were top flyers, before acquiring Van Reets, would they have stood the test of time,if acquired by Joe Bloggs etc, capabilities of the birds are often due to fanciers input, this also answers the birds for distance conundrum,Van Reets winning at 500/560 miles,a good bird, proper management is capable of winning at any distance. Good enjoyable post lads keep it going.
  9. For me its got to be a Lurcher or Jack Russells, the Jacks for their constant probing, never resting apparently, and the Lurcher, especially with Collie blood, for their cunning, speed, and agility .,also of the opinion, there are more bad owners than bad dogs.

  15. Yes in agreement with Roland on this one,it was enjoyable, and would have been morso, excepting for Phillips P.C. troubles,so well done to whoever is declared the winner, and especially to Phillips, whose idea it was,and his total efforts, hope something similar happens again. P.S Harky. My advice would be just to give a ring,he is not enamoured with many of us at this moment in time. ;D ;D ;)
