Southener advertised Hongerloots for sale others including myself had not heard of them so the question was put to the seller - can you tell us a bit about them. - he gave a comprehensive rundown on them and his sale site was most professional and a credit to him and he has answered the questions asked. It is so much better to be open and upfront you will get more respect just sorry that this type of fancier is leaving the sport we can ill afford that kind of loss.

If success in pigeon racing could be bought then we lesser mortals would probably just keep "pets" but fortunately pigeon racing is a great leveller and as a lot of the posts have shown sometimes, "The best things in life are free"

That's why it is so important to ask questions and if the seller gives vague answers steer clear it's your money spend it wisely

Small article in "The Sun" to-day by the rspb basically telling it's the publics fault for the lack of small birds in the UK we cut our grass too short we have to plant bushes, trees and shrubs because of the shortage of insects etc etc. Never told you about the hawk diet of thousands of small birds plus ours and the maurading magpies which have also increased in nos. A few years ago we saw very few but they more numerous than a lot of our natural birds.

BBC Scotland "The Politics Show" at 12 today may well be a rerun on the website showed some graphic shots of pigeons that had been hawked.

Have all the Scots been watching Dr Lynch puting forward the points of view of members with regards to the hawk problem in Scotland and surprise,surprise a visit to his loft by Minister for the environment looked encouraging but don't hold too much hope maybe i am being too pessimistic. The RSPB has it's hand out every year looking for funds When as we as a body give away thousands every year to various charities and good causes.

Pigeons are colour blind

stick a menu on the loft door squirrel soup, squirrel curry followed by squirrel meringue pie and hope they can read as they are intelligent little basta--- ;D ;D ;D

Once read somewhere that Scottish groats and pinhead oatmeal was most nutritious for both man and pigeon
