The larger type of pigeon is probably more suited to sprinting where as the medium to small are better over the distance the sprinters are built for explosive power whilst long distance tend to be smaller and "whippet" like, pigeons are no different.

There have been a number of fanciers giving birds away for free and I don't think they are "bad" birds it's just nice to see they don't blow there own trumpet
