we will not do the hopper beans until we have a distance team here in 2011.. I believe the hopper beans play a bigger part at races 600 and over.. I have read many articles regarding beans in distance racing,, One guy said he would feed lots of beans and have great returns but he was off the pace until 600 miles were raced.. he just put less beans in and added more maize as the race got closer.. he was actually racing on 80% beans and would get 90% returns from the distance when some got very few back,, but the beans were the stamina and not the speed.. upto 600 you have to balence the carbs and protein out and look at the wind,, weather,, the top boys will get the balence right.. over 600 the bird has to be bred for the job i think,, but a high protein diet with the addition of carbs and sugar just before release is helpful.. lots give growers pellets before the distance,, full of protein and cheap to buy.. nearly every distance loft I know use beans in their loft .. some all year round,, some 1 month prior to the distance race they intend to win.. there are good beans and bad beans.. they say 1 year old beans are the best,, some say the drier the better.. some say they like them a few months old.. quality does count for a lot.. best of luck ant

beans are a very good part of a pigeons diet.. we have just bought 10 x 28kg bags from a farm 35 miles from us.. £6 a bag.. birds are gulping them down and are looking well on them.. we will also include the maris bead in our channel feeding.. all our birds are on beans now.. mixed with other stuff.. ant

steve you will have to check nehu rules.. If you do need bobs before I would just add bobs to the front and leave the back bobs on.. best of luck ant

that pic is of the RV woodcraft trap.. the pad is before the bobs in that one.. the landing board is outside the loft and the pad is before the bobs.. just like another I seen a few months ago in our fed.. the bobs only open to the open end.. they do not go inside over the pad.. ant
-
phil RV woodcraft have been stating for years it meets whpu rules.. all their traps have bobs after the pad.. I will check to see if I can find the rules.. ant
-
but if you take the bobs off the birds inside the loft could get out.. well mine could.. ant
-
Phil I did have the WHPU rules on ets here,, nothing in it to say any different than RPRA.. can't find them now.. all difference was all pads to be sealed in place and numbered.. ant
-
at the min it does.. as long as the pad is within the confines of the loft the bobs can be after the pad.. but council might rule against it.. but time will tell.. wood craft have made them for 2 years with bobs after the pads.. what's the answer to this - an open door fancier has a bird come back, can he catch the bird if the doors are still open??? time will tell what happens,, but as the rule stands bobs after the pad are allowed.. best of luck ant

starpper in our fed if its a south wind the north boys top the fed,, if a north wind the south boys top the fed.. This is for races upto 150 miles.. sometimes the fanciers with the wind advantage will beat the opposite fanciers by 100 ypm.. just because of wind and loft location.. you can not tell me the birds on the wide side were 100 ypm better on the day.. very frustrating sometimes to win club and know the wind will beat you in the fed.. the valleys make this problem even worst.. Pigeon racing is never on a level playing field.. When you do win against all the odds you know you have done well.. ant

what you are all missing is the bigest one thing to make a person a winner is loft location.. lots of the multiple fed winners are the shortest flyers with great loft location,, would the multiple winners win with a worst loft location,, If they will they are true winners.. I know some fanciers who have moved a few miles to gain an advantage.. If the best loft location only send 4 and the others many miles longer send 90 ,, there could be a huge advantage with the shorter flyer and the 90 would have no chance.. Its more complicated than you think.. look at the winners of your fed are they the shortest flers.. every fed will have a golden mile.. best of luck ant

Here is a better pic of mine,, 1st club 2008 - 1st section fed,, 4th fed 1700b. 1st club 2009 - 1st section fed 1200b,, 14th fed 2200b,, 1st club 2009 - 1st section fed 1000b,, top 50 fed 2000b. 1st club 2009 - 1st section fed 900b,, top 50 fed 1500b.. 1st club 2009,, wildermeesch x van reet.. this is a better photo.. taken yesterday friday the 13th of nov.. fingers crossed she likes roundabout for 2010..lol.. best of luck to all ant

The best to get is pure whey protein,, the problem is they are all in flavours.. but you can get the un flavoured ones online.. holland and barrett do have sales from time to time and it is then half price.. but vanilla is the choice.. lots use this for recovery after a hard race or to load them before a long race.. best of luck,, ant

try this site.. it might be of help..lol.. http://www.thone.be/ best of luck ant

this was our best performance bird in 2009.. she is a wildermeesch x van reet.. in 2009 she won 4 x 1st clubs,, 3 x 1st section fed,3 x top 50 fed,, fed is has a massive radius and always being beaten by shorter fliers in the east.., and all this unpaired on the celibate system.. best of luck to all.. ant

contacting these people..lol.. a phone call is a must.. I know they do not check their email or messages on these sites as they are very busy people.. I have bricon and have rang Mr palmer and had an answer every time.. I have even phoned him on a saturday and sunday and it is always answered .. ray knight also has his phone on all times.. I have emailed both ray knight and mark palmer with no reply.. email and messaging is ok for people who are always checking them,, the phone is still the best way to contact them.. try it.. ring them and you will be amazed..lol.. ant

I know if all the members have bricon or unikon the results can be done automatically from the clocks.. so a lot easier for the sec.. I expect all the ETS comapnies to do a free results package next year.. you can also add t3 times .. so if everyone has the same it will make things soo much easier for the workers in the club..lol.. ant

Lots will say the ring gets picked up 6 inches above the pad.. this is true,, but the ring will not get picked up if moved over the pad at great speed.. so every bird should be slowed down while on the pad but you don't want the bird to stay on the pad while others cross it.. You should never have a pad in a loft that other birds with ets rings on can land on while you are racing.. A bricon pad will pick the ring up 5 to 6 inches above the pad.. this is for a ring being lowered slowly.. the benzing picks the ring up about 4 to 5 inches above the pad.. The rings will be picked up through brick or wood with ease.. so you can have a 5 inch block of wood and the ring will still be picked up.. but the quicker you move the ring over the pad the lower it needs to go to be picked up... this is for all systems,, try this also.. set your system up in test mode.. this is for testing the pads search area,, so when you put a ring into its area the clock will bleep.. so place an Ets ring on the pad over each sensor.. so if 2 field put 1 ets ring on each side( 2 in total) ..try and clock another ring in then..so a static bird on the pad can make the pad not clock.. I run these systems together to test the rings and pads.. some will pick other rings up on test mode.. but you can't use a different ets ring on your systems,, so bricon will not register on a benzing clock.. benzing will not register on a bricon clock.. so what ever system you have thats the ring you will have to use when racing.. I have tried to register bricon rings for my friend using a benzing,, not a chance..lol.. best of luck.. but go and see other systens working,, but most inportantly ask what others have got in the club,, I have to run a number of systems and it is a lot of work.. also results are harder to do with different systems,, ant
-
The best thing to do is ring both companies,, they will then explain about their systems and what they can do. The benzing G2 can run upto 8 antenna,, each antenna are 6 x 5 inches.. I run both systems and feel bricon are better than benzing,, but thats my opinion.. so my advice would be contact both suppliers and see what they can offer you.. benzing - http://www.homingpigeons.co.uk/benzing.htm bricon - http://www.bricon.be/uk/uk_about_bricon.htm best of luck ant

I run benzing M1 ,, bricon,, tauris,, unikon,, they are not cheap.. the benzing sounds good but it can only use small pads .. the G2 is for a very small set up .. but it does what it is supposed to.. they all do.. I use bricon and find it top notch.. lots use unikon and find it the same,, but unikon have had many updates in the past.. lets hope they do not have too many in 2010.. bricon are only updating the master for 2010.. so my choice would be bricon against benzing.. reasons are:- pads,, when compared with their own rings the bricon pad picks up the signal in test mode over 1 inch higher than the benzing.. rings,, when testing using the benzing system it picks up the bricon ring over an inch higher on a benzing pad.. ( I test both the benzing and bricon ring on the benzing pad with a M1 conected). best of luck what ever you pick.. ant
