  1. Very good Robert, I think you got the gist of my points.
  2. If a bird limit is set and adhered to then they would be fed accordingly.
  3. I personally think less is more, it'sa transporter wwith a responsible driver, not a rally car zooming down the road. And birds are built for rapid unpredictable moment. They sit in trees in the middle of the worst storms and survive. Jmo
  4. We won a full house here.
  5. Good luck Del, a lot of feel good factor in the air just now, rather than the usual negativity, we are feeling good about the new season, blue sky's started putting the birds out will be pairing up the racers over the next two weeks, we hope the amalgamation takes off, plenty to be positive about, good luck with the wee hen.
  6. I use an Excel spreadsheet I created and have been using it since 2002, every bird we have bred from then is on it which I can recall with pedigree. All these systems are only as good as the amount of details you input into it, I used to record all club and fed performances but don't bother now.
  7. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06z4pqz/the-one-show-04022016 Fastforward to 24:15
  8. At some time we may be able to get it on you tube.
  9. Peregrine's can catch Pigeons at night using street light.
  10. I thought the SNFC website would have had a report on the outcomes of the AGM, confirming the race program and proposals?
  11. Come on Del, we are all nosey bee's try again we want to see this bird, lol
  12. The SHU should contact all members who haven't had it done yet, as I'm sure there will be lots who don't know if they are done or not.
  13. Yes I think a few prominent fanciers are racing the big races on widowhoow, I wou;d love to try it, but our shifts won't allow us to do it properly.
  14. Fair play we only raced widowhood for the sprint, and had them in form for the first race, we paired up for the Nationals.
  15. You can rear or not it's up to you, success has been gained by both methods, the timing is down to what you want to win with them, if you want to win the early races you need the birds split and flying the skys about two weeks before the first race getting them into the correct routine and level of fitness to hit the ground running.
  16. Sounds like a good night.
  17. I don't know the ins and outs of the law, but I think this rule would be outwith the SHU rules for timing and verification of a bird, so I can't see it standing in an appeal.
  18. This and many other reasons has me worried about this proposal,P.S. most of the time we would be available to record a timein but as mentioned earlier for second or third day birds members are not always at the loft when using ETS.
  19. Another season apon us and another jucy steak for everyone to bit into, but when the dust settles we will all race our birds as normal. Apart from giving an early rundown on the race (which is already available on the web site and on PB), I see no other reason being offered for this proposal, if it is security, then as some have mentioned it will give supposed cheats more information to aid them. If just one ligitamatly timed bird is thrown out because they didn't phone in, just to give an early run down, then for me this is not worth it, JMO
  20. You said you are all for it, which is fine, but nobody on here has given a solid reason for needing it and what issues it would solve?
  21. A lot of older fanciers won't use a mobile, and my original point is ,what is the purpose of this new rule what risks do we have that this will solve?
  22. Brilliant, that is what it's all about, we all should have the same opportunity to enjoy the night or morning we have work all year for.
  23. Who wants to leave their loft after timing in a cracker and you know your preparation was good and your favoured bird is still flying, it would be a total injustice if you had to leave your loft on the most important moment of the year.
  24. We will see, if it gets passed. Fanciers in allotments with no mobile phones will love this rule.
  25. Great bird, well done Davie.
