  1. Absolutly nothing but give it a mate and race it natural or widowhood, training a single bird will give it extra experience as it has to think on it's own and will make it a better bird but if your luck enough to get it out of 150 miles racing I'd stop it and put it by to next year and be very happy with it. Remember pigeon racing is a patients game and it takes time to build up a good experienced racing team.
  2. We just go a ton of feeding from Swainstons feeds from Co Durham cutting out the middle man, saving around £1 a bag which at 50 x 20kg bags is £50,delivery is free for minimun orders of 1 ton.(this can be made up of different feeds i.e 25 widowhood and 25 breeding). you just need storage for it.
  3. Chris your obviously a new start and quickly finding out there is a few dodgy people out their, follow the S.H.U. rules ask your club secretary for advice and get the bird properly and legally in your name and train the bird with your old bird team (if you have one) and give it a few short races to about 100 - 150 miles then if its still their stop racing it until next year and if its any good it will repay your patients. if you don't have an old bird team just train it out with your young birds and race it next year. Good Luck
  4. All the above refers to the parent birds but don't forget newly weaned young birds love a bath, we give them one twice a week and they love it.

    mr hawk

The sparrow hen went into ours 3 days ago they all scattered with six missing,it caught one but we chased it off the bird and when the bird flew away she chased it again and caught it a 2nd time we chased it again. the bird made it home missing lots of feathers and covered in blood we were waiting on 3 on the night but got 2 the next day and were still waiting on one. The hawk puts our young bird into the air EVERY year! :'(
