CATS BY LAW HAVE . A ROVING COMMISSION,, THIS IS LAW AND HAVE A RIGHT TO GO WHERE THRY LIKE.
-
chris I can understand your opinion and view but there are otherways than killing them , which I can say you have not threatened to do mate. spencer
-
You can take action against cats without killing them. but maybe for those who want to take this route , its just to much brain power to contemplate other means.
-
Maybe all those people who have advised to kill a cat on this site should now consider being reported to the RSPCA and prosecuted for such acts againts animals , which by the way is a criminal offence. or even banned from keeping animals themselves and that includes pigeons !!! Maybe before opening your mouths you should put brain into gear first !! Maybe people should make their lofts cat proof and not blame any animal for acting how nature intended. this angers me and I am sure certain groups would be interested in how fanciers in this country behave.

why ? do you actually think pigeons need these products ? best think about what you do before giving anything. the more you give pigeons the more dependent they become on it !!!

ITS RATS, PARENTS KILL THE SQAUBS SO RATS DONT TAKE THEM, EGGS TAKEN BY RATS/ TRUST ME ITS A RAT OR RATS . IT WILL CONTINUE IF YOU DONT LISTEN.

hi les, it can be mutated and seem like a choc strawberry type, but if you ask any geneticist then they will tell you both must carry the recessive chcolate gene, if you doubt this ask Karel meuleman, herman beverdam, schailwijk and son and anyone who has a knowledge of the family or genetics, if it was a pure chocolate you bred then either the janssen is not what it was told it was or hen could have been trodden by another VDB cock. cheers spencer

Ella louise is my best hen racing for me 3 races, 3 wins against widowhood cocks !! from 76 mls upto 171 miles in consecutive weeks. a good cock I have is beer 55, 23 x1st prizes and over 40 deplomas altogether. but he was raced by someone else. I do have gabriel 11 x 1st prizes and sire of many winners. besides prins benjamin sire of winners in every nest.. plus donkere witpen, sire of 8 federation winners !! i could go on but it would sound like i blowing my own trumpet slightly and this makes me uncomfortable. sorry.

hi stuart, yes the point is a valid one, but if you go to Herman Beverdam then you will be charged accordingly due to dealing direct. which is very well and good. but I provide the same bloodlines ...very close to the originals as i own a brother to Wittekrop 91 his foundation pigeon, at a cheaper price than you would pay direct !! your comments are possibly valid and taken on board. it can be said why pay agents a price when the internet has brought the possiblity to go direct to the man a possibility?? I know full well who you are the agent for when considering this comment, and am in no way attacking or knocking what or who you wish to represent. I respect you and commend you on such issues, as I think you provide superb pigeons at a really good price. but to be honest first and foremost I have a passion for the Beverdam and Meulemans pigeons, if I sold nothing ever I would still be happy as I do not need the money.. its not about money with me. never has been. thanks spencer.

I have spoken to Herman on a few occasions and mailed him, the man is second to none in my eyes, and as for 48 direct and breeding nothing from them.. well sorry thats poor managment, like they say cant just buy good birds and hope for the best results, buy good AND work hard , and you will win !! Hermans pigeons are total class as Andrew has stated, I got them and they breed winners and my best ever pigeon was from them !!!!!! I have never been disapointed with any bird from him. if anything fanciers and alot of them forget pigeons are animals that require a quality of life, and many not all , but many do not look after their birds.
-
Herman is one of a handful of players or fanciers I trust impecabaly, I also trust John Kirk of Warrington, these are 2 people who I would deal with and on a constant basis, in fact I spoke to Herman Beverdam today regarding a certain matter and he was very pleasant as always. People do not agree with his prices but like anything in this world, if you want it then you have to pay for it. £10 or £1000... a price is a price. I have a large number of directs from beverdam 18 in total i think and most have bred the goods but then I make sure they are the best he has. I also try to bring the price within reach of the normal man .. like youngsters from my direct Beverdams !!! not grand children? or great grandchildren? although they are available it still reflects in the price. I have never had any of Hermans pigeons die.. but I never bought any at auction where they mix and risk cross infection.

then your cheq pied hen carries the chocolate gene !!!! my case exactly.
-
they will only breed chocolates if both birds carry the gene for recessive red(chocolate) the hen does as she is chocolate, the cock may or may not. if he does not carry the gene , you can take 100s of young from him with the hen and not one will be chocolate. if he does you should get 1 in 4 roughly. you should find out soon enough. spencer

Hi Jack, I totally agree with you that the general health of any individual can be seen in the eye , especially our pigeons. I also think eyes are gentically link , as all aspects of the pigeon. can you just explain what you mean by genetic drift exactly?? i not sure I understand this term correctly and do not want to mis understand anything. I can see you have a great discussion with Bewted and please do not think i am gate crashing it, i am just trying to follow it a little . I do have my views , but am willing to listen and keep my opinion to myself, I think this shall always be a grey area for some but we can only all pull the same way and maybe then fanciers will realise eyesign is here to stay in which ever form we term to use it. regards spencer

Hi Darky, yes I agree tony read has quality bird and your spot on when you say they have been cultivated his way. It is hard to find original van riels nowadays and I know they where based on a big % of van den bosche pigeons. I would have no doubt that they will be good pigeons for yourself. regards spencer
-
Hi I have a 12 year old stock hen which still gives good eggs... as stated by others who know, it depends how you look after them.. my birds get no added medication or help from bottles or concoctions... just quality pigeons !!
-
Hi Jack, a quick question as I just read the article, does genetics play a big enough role in eyesign evaluation? I believe it should and this is only my opinion, but am curious to know what you have found to be beneficial to eyesign ? kindest regards spencer. ps . hope your well sir.
-
Huysken-van riel pigeons are possibly not in their pure state anymore , I know for a fact that Mr van riels son Franscois gave up pigeons a short while back and he had his fathers main bloodlines and pigeons, now they are dispearsed. remember do your research and just because somebody says is this or that ... well its just a label. look for the old original bloodlines not something many tmes removed !! regards spencer

timbarra replied to FLAPPER 123's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
JUST LEAVE HER ALONE AND SHE WILL COME ROUND, SHE PROBABLY FEELING UNDER THE WEATHER, I ACTUALLY THINK THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF TRAINING EXAM TO QUALIFY KEEPING PIGEONS, AS PEOPLE CAN THEN DEAL WITH STUFF AS IT HAPPENS. CHEERS -
yes i have chocolates, i did pm you pete, but like i said i breed 10 or so per year but i breed them from solid colour birds, i do not pair choc to choc just to get choc to sell. If you do require them then surely buying top winning lines are more important than the colour !! I can understand your son likes them but they cost alot more elswhere, I have some of the best in my opinion and therefore charge accordingliy. £75 is a lot i guess but buy 6 and the price reduces. any questions just ask. regards spencer
