  1. Didn't send this week either JAS Rab Stewart was the best time I'd heard-1145 but dunno about Stirling or Plean times Rab's one of the stables in form though so thought it'd be a hard doo to beat
  2. Northwest Fed basketting tonight for Witton Castle
  3. Aye racing from 130miles it would be a bit of a rush was just thinking about our feds first couple of races,60 miles to the shortest lofts if the birds were open marked early Saturday with the transporter waiting outside and away down the road for an afternoon lib but once your over a 100 miles it'd be back to Friday marking anyway and spose the sooner the youngsters get used to nights in the transporter the better
  4. If this was becoming a regular thing(obviously a lot would have to go into checking the weather was gonna be good etc.) do you think it would of benfit basketting on a Saturday morning?
  5. Do you get the Homing World yet? Theres usually a "Pigeon Pharmacy" advert/order form in it.used this the last while.dunno if its cheaper or dearer than anywhere else at the moment???but it usually comes up within a day or two Think you can only buy it in 50 or a 100 doses but you can keep it in the fridge and the expiry dates are usually a year or two away from when you buy it.So you can use it for your youngsters next year etc. Other than that used to order it through a local vet but they were hopeless
  6. In the Fed I race in theres a lot of good flyers up to 250miles but maybe only 2 lofts that have "dominated" at these distances since i started racing 10 years ago. They done well I gather with Van De Rhees,Janssen Van Loons and Staf Van reets. So like a lot of todays good "sprint" pigeons they are Janssen based. I'm not so sure it matters mind you I think it just so happens these were the doos that these fanciers raced at the time and these fanciers would probably have been as successful with Vandenabeeles,Busschaserts or whatever other good doos they raced under their management.I think basically theres good doos and bad doos regardless of any fashionable names attached. The same can probably be said for fanciers and I am one of the many hoping to be a good one someday
  7. I'm away offline before this turns into a tribute thread to the greatest entertainer of the 20th century He didn't die,he just went home
  8. The King is gone but hes not forgotten
  9. If i have a good one they usually come out of Armadale direction
  10. That was number one the day i was born
  11. Nah I took them to Stow. You never know if all my breaking point trainings paid off they might have flown over Armadale
  12. Maybe worth checking out some shed builders GEO for a price at least. Then you'll be guaranteed of something thats the right size and you can work on it to get it the way you want. You might be lucky enough though to get a used loft thats exactly what your after though. its just your donald duck
  13. Aye my mum and my sister like him as well Nah he has got some good songs likes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEFFK1xaQu8 like this cover
  14. Nice cover Think the rolling stones might have another "farewell" tour on the cards
  15. Don't like the Rolling Stones HA! this is an absolute tour de force
  16. Is there not any decent shed builders round your bit that could do you a decent deal on a 10x6? If you could get the shell at a decent price you could add the finishings yourself
  17. Armadales not far from me Aye its gutting to say the least from a fanciers point of view but it really knocks the stuffing out of the birds
  18. Its amazing how they can get back in that condition they bounce back quick so hopin the wee man will be fine
  19. I had a very similar thing this morning with my latebreds but from a training toss. all came back eventually. The 2nd last one minus a tail and the last one back at half 7 with the remains of this morning's breakfast falling out of it horrible to see doos like this its stitched up now tho so will see if it picks up ok in the next few days
  20. Its fun to stay at the....
  21. IS there not one loft race somewhere this year where a couple of the liberations are from a boat?? cannae mind where I saw it or where it is again tempted to say Tenerife?and the main event was an island to island race
  22. Central Route-obviously its not really favourable anymore for most due to BOPS but do any of the members think the racing was better back when the majority of the feds raced from the central racepoints instead of easterly points?if so perhaps down to the fact that there werent really any convoys racing across each other as such?
  23. Obviously sparrowhawks, peregrines and goshawks are the main killers of racing pigeons but loads of the others are pretty much equally as dangerous to the pigeon fancy. If their populations were to increase then they would eat more songbirds and others such stuff the big 3 could eat leaving them with no real choice but to eat folks doos. I can see it at my bit just now, there is not a lot of BOPs near me atm but there has been a few sightings of the sparrowhen in recent weeks. She's not touching the pigeons, can keep herself happy just now with easy pickings such as baby blackbirds etc. but once they're down a bit the doos will start getting hit again. See that guy writing in the BHW about the red kites being introduced into Cumbria."Its fine cause they don't eat pigeons"this may be true but they will force the sparrowhawks to eat even MORE of them.
  24. Offt!! Just had a read at this thread from start to end, seems to have been a fairly black day The last thing thats needed so early in the YBs racing careers. Hope the missing pigeons work their way back and will be harder to lose for it
  25. I can vouch for that Ian.Saw thousands of them whilst i was waiting on the doos, which took their time btw.Got the last one home an hour ago though-16/16 Another strange race for the Northwest Fed,everybody seems to be getting there now mind you.
