Is it the horse stuff you're talking about? You can coat your feeding with it if you prefer that to the drinker -

Nah if you've got Ybs of diiferent age groups obviously they'll not all be starting to fly at the same time. Its nothing to worry about though if your getting them out often without any hassle and used to going in and out the loft.If they are healthy they'll fly when they r ready You do occasionally get a walker mind you got a yearling pigeon here that gets called the "Tam Weir Cock" when all the other youngsters were ducking n diving he'd be enjoying a casual stroll in front of the loft. -

Its like a lot things in doos-theres no right or wrong, many roads lead to Rome n all that. You'll make up your mind better once they're up n flying well. -

Seeing as you've just got babies at the moment you could let them out a lot. Its when you've got older doos too let out or train it becomes a bit harder too juggle. I'm lucky where my loft is it's quite open and not got a lot of houses etc near. when the kamikaze season is finished I can have doos out all day. It'll be different for yourself mind you if you're lofts in a scheme -
Got in a stray youngbird a few weeks back.Turns out it belongs to a previous Gold Cup winner,He's told me to transfer it. Its a cracker!! massive big thing-if its doesn't ammount to anything in the race basket it will most certainly look good on the Christmas table

Suppose it depends on how often you can get them out. I'd say if you've got them flying at 7-8 weeks your doing jolly well. There was a good article i read the other week there by Geoff Cooper about youngsters and young bird racing. I can't remember where though I'll have a look through some of the recent magazines I've got lying about tomorrow and send it to you. Its a decent read-if it does you no good it'll certainly do you no harm. -
Know of anymore doos in the North?

A bit slower than most expected but its seems to have been a decent enough race. Well done to all who have timed

Theres been a few races now.Whats been your best pigeon so far? age/breeding/system etc. got a pair of yearling nest brothers that haven't been out my first 5 birds all year.hoping it'll continue

Had a few 08 latebreds coming well this year so far. They'd never been in a race basket until the first race of the season. Last year i just took them anywhere-if i was going a run in the car they came with me,singled them up from around 50 miles a few times as well. I've never been to keen on them to race but after this year i think i might breed a few each year. Generally speaking they'd be off your best birds and bred when the weather is warmer. So you can see how they could turn out to be handy if you find a way to manage them.

Done something similar back in 2002.The new loft was about a mile away, the majority realised pretty quickly they weren't gonna getting any joy in the way of nesting, eats, drinking etc. in a bare loft and broke fairly quickly. A couple of weeks down the line a few of the older ones were still being stubborn but after a night or two out got most of them to come round. good luck
-
One of the guys in the club used to have a sling shot,Anytime his YBs went to the roofs he'd fire baby new potatoes at them. Can imagine they'd soon get the idea-If i sit onthe roof i get a potato fired at me,if i sit on the loft i don't
