  1. Probably the best idea.Could be some kinna worm?
  2. Are they drinking more as a result of the over eating?
  3. Aye its more or less like asking whos the best footballer of all time.Theres loads of top players most of which played under too different circumstances to really compare.Like that though folk have their opinions and favourites
  4. Aye you'd have to say thats pretty good goin SNFC race hat trick to go with his SNFC Gold Award Hat trick
  5. These "All rounders" seem to be a bit of a rare breed to be honest.Ones that spring to mind though in TODAY'S game, the VERY TOP level fanciers to beat from 60-600 miles are John McNeil,W.Kinnear & son,John Hodgson and John Duthie.Fancy a few more to join them in the next two or three years mind you. Obviously some peoples lofts aren't in as good positions as others so a lot of top flyers struggle to dominate from every distance. One things for sure though if I had a pigeon in amongst those guys I'd have a gidyin
  6. Hope to put an end to my bad luck with mealies sometime soon. Can't seem to be able to keep a hold of them. I cursed one this year by picking it as my fancied youngster
  7. That should be a good night Ian
  8. Whos the guest judge/judges this year Martin?
  9. Got there in the end God loves a tryer Hes a young cock from this year.I'll post up a pic of his father once hes a bit further through the moult. He has a brownish tail and flights.I paired him to a blue hen and the above cock was one of the babies.
  10. I thought I had managed to post it.OBVIOUSLY not will try it again later
  11. Heres a picture of the youngun would have took a picture of his da but hes out playing at the minute .The father is a LOT darker and has browner flight than the bairn. PS excuse the nest.He decided none of the other pigeons were to get any straw from his bag
  12. The ones I got from him were deep red and red cheqs but when I visited him he had one or two that were almost totally brown with the odd black splash on them
  13. I'll take a photo of my favourite this afternoon.Need to get my sister to upload them for me.I am not good at that sort of thing He inherited Jock Watson's loft(1st SNFC Avranches into central Scotland 1975).He was also very pally with the Late Great Jimmy Hamilton who had a a lot of dark reds
  14. I got gifted some pigeons back in 2003 off a top fancier up my way-Ian "Toddler" Brown. They are VERY dark red.Right old fashioned looking doos. Hope to be clocking some of there offspring next year
  15. Are averages important?I suppose no but in my relatively short time racing the doos have found 8 or 9 times out of 10 it the BEST fanciers that win them
  16. I buy the wee trays of cress from the supermarket(or my maw does ) the doos go mental for it
  17. Were the McGilvary's Nantes winners full sisters or am I talking rubbish?
  18. Very true I posted earlier and have thought of another 10 or 20 folk I could have mentioned since Impossible to pick one "best" really
  19. Depends on the type of racing-Sprint,channel etc. But local to me I'd say John McNeil,Tommy Blair and the Macaloneys All time great for their results and impact maybe Johnny Kirkpatrick,Jock Reid or the Newcombes Best National loft in Scotland this century-W.Kinnear and son
  20. that would certainly raise a few eyebrows at the marking station
  21. Nah started off with my dad with one loft in 2000 then gradually got more stopped in 2007 and gave away most of the doos but kept a few back as pets. so the lofts lay empty til last year when they started to get progressively fuller again
  22. Nah not big on the whole uploading photos thing If I'm nice enough to my sister she'll maybe do it for me tomorrow basically got three huts-an 18x12,a 28x8 and an 8x6
  23. Haha aye some poeple would say too big.Ma maw being one of them
  24. Another one of those things George-some folk do it with success others don't believe in it I'm a year ahead of yourself in as much as I started back with youngsters last year.I was happy enough getting my yearlings out of Leicester or Maidstone this season with the intention of them going across the water next year as 2yos If I had an established team of doos or there was a pigeon that was asking to be sent I'd maybe be tempted though
  25. Looks like you'll have a bit o' fun wi them Lookin well
