One of my best yearlings in 2010 wasn't in a race basket as a youngster. He was treated in the same way as the rest of the team last year and in his first ever race(Coldstream-60miles)he came in the first drop and was our 2nd pigeon timed finishing 2nd club.8 weeks later from Maidstone(380miles)he was 1st club he was never far away in the 6 races he had between Coldstream and Maidstone either. We had always sent most of youngsters if fit and in feather the full YB programme but not so sure anymore that its essential. Each to their own though

I know that Was just saying that in the last "5 years" hes done more than win a 60 mile pre open race Anyway best of luck to the man and to anybody who fancies a try with some of his pigeons.

Agree with what your saying.I've met him once or twice,albeit it was about 5 years ago, he was nice enough to me and spoke of a lot of his top results when he was in Accrington. The advert is a bit misleading but I've seen a lot lot worse!! I'll not be buying anyway-too many doos

Agree the advert is a bit misleading but everything in it is fact. He did win 92x1st in strong competition in 4 and half seasons with no duplications with the said families of doos. Its not mentioned in the advert where the strong competition was or indeed when the 4 and half year period covered but doesn't make it lies. There are one or two guys in my area that have got more than their turn with his doos.

Done this with the stock doos before.Its a good way of testing your new stock and finding out a bit quicker which ones are the breeders and which one are the feeders.

Theres pros and cons with it. I picked the stock pairings this year for the reason I'm trying to find out as much as possible about a young stock team.The racers are doing their own thing. For me its a more settled,happier race team-a lot less fighting and upheaval. You obviously won't get exactly what you want pairings wise but are there really many/any that walk amongst us who possess such gifted matching skills???

I'd personally like to see all the inland races(incl. yb) dropped from the National programme leaving inland racing to club,fed and amals. As for racing from Oslo or Ireland Theres not a single organisation that covers an area over 60 miles wide and over a 120 miles top to bottom that can provide such a thing as a fair race,if by fair you mean all lofts competing are in a position to win 1st open. What it can provide is a platform for people to race their doos against the best fliers in the country and admire some of the top perormances put up by dozens of pigeons and fanciers in each race(regardless of their postcode) Of course it'd be better if the two nationals were to reunite but will this ever happen?? regardless of whether they do or don't there are top fliers and pigeons in each club and the SNFC would perhaps not be in the position its in now if it weren't for your Dennis Dalls,John Ellis' and Peter Virtues.

The guy was known as "The King of Sprint" for a while.Not sure if this is a title he still holds in Holland Like very many of the top sprint doos the last few decades they are Janssen based. As long as you don't tell the bird its a "sprinter" though I'd think you'd get it out of 500 miles on a nice day All the best with them

Same as everything else GEO.You'll get a top flier who swears by it and views it as one of the factors of his success and you'll get an equally successful flier who says its a complete waste of time. Thats doo racing

Most doos people breed to race have got homing ability to some extent some have greater ability than others Read something about this earlier actually that summed it up fairly well.You could let 40 go together from 30 miles and they'll batter in if you let same 40 go from half the distance by themselves you'd be surprised at how few do it in the time you'd be looking for.

There was an old theory that birds could smell the road they travelled thus retracing it to get home.This was disproved when they transported the test pigeons to a different location in transport with regulated air and the birds still managed to get home
