It can be tricky to get them going for any length of time round the loft if they are being tossed. The guys I've seen whos doos seem to go like the clappers round the doors give them very little training by road but you'll want to get them some tosses under their belt to get them started for the year??
Spraying baskets this morning, generally mess about with the doos, will watch the Grand Prix later then think I'll be going through to Stirling tonight to try that chicken place-Nandos
I understand the points of view on the east and west, north and south thing and that certain doos don't do as well in other areas but am I not correct in saying theirs a man thats won the West Section 7 times and the father of his loft was out a pigeon that was a Macmerry egg?? Along the same lines theres a man thats won the North Section over 20 times with pigeons that originate in Annan??
Think the doos at the base of Van Rijn's team are Janssens,Meulemans and a Catrysse X Tournier pigeon. The book I have is a bit out of date and he wasn't that well known over here back then. Does he still have the same kinna doos as he did back then?
Got my ticket on Wednesday I'd go mental for a month or two.Upon waking from the alcohol induced coma I'd see my family and friends alright, give a lot to charity, maybe go a nice holiday before moving to china to race ma doos and live off my interest
Eyesign is something I've never really gotten into and will probably never take too seriously but I've a yearling cock here that has different coloured eyes. Found it a bit unusual has anybody seen much of this before??
Nah I don't put anything at all in the bath these days. They've got it in front of them nearly all the time at the moment. They seem to like a daily bath when they are feeding babies.
http://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/prodinfo.asp?number=POT9008590&Variation= Was recomended this years ago from an old guy to keep on top of worms and cocci. Its potassium permanganate, think people use it for skin conditions and as a general disinfectant. Didn't really think it had a particularly positive affect on the doos but maybe we were using it wrong. One thing I can say is that if you put a sprinkle in the doos bath every now and again you'll have no such thing as a louse or a mite in yer hut
Had a couple coming in the eaves of the hut the last day or two They've only been going in one end-the doos cannae rest for them. Was able to catch one tonight but the other escaped. Its not come back in as it seems to be looking for its mate. I didnae want to kill the wee thing So I took it away a training toss. We'll see if its back in the morning-could be my pooler for the first race
I've often wondered about this theory with razor wires etc.Surely if the hawk cannae see it the doos cannae see it either??are you not asking for injuries or does it work well for yourself??
Your maybe worrying over nothing. If they are visibly healthy?? they most probably are healthy. Think of it in human terms. If you were locked in your room for three months then expected to run for an hour within the first four days of being let out could you do it??
If they're just broken it could be tricky.Obviously you don't want them roofing but if you are throwing stuff at them it'll be as if you are driving them away. Have they been locked in for a while? obviously it'll take them a wee while before they are back in the swing of flying again. If they're healthy and getting out regularly they should start flying for longer as they get progressively fitter.
