  1. Will have a wee look at the weather tomorrow but hoping to send around 40 to Coldstream(2) with the Northwest Fed
  2. Would certainly save me a lot on petrol money
  3. Been the man to beat in the fed as long as I've raced doos.Top class
  4. Hoping we get much the same on the returns front as last weekend
  5. Have found it simply to be repetition. SHORT AND OFTEN builds confidence in pigeons There was a wee spell when our doos were doing well from the shorter races. They were more or less tossed twice a day from the same point and all let go at once. When we took them tossing they wouldn't even burl and if it was a nice day on raceday they would come in their 10s and 20s.If it was a stiff day however they'd be found wanting. Going for a different approach these days-kinna fancy myself as a Billy Bigtime
  6. If I was a betting man I'd be tempted to put money on this loft WINNING a national in the next 2 seasons
  7. Would say a lot of the funny money being paid for pigeons really puts people of going to these sales but in saying that if a fancier puts a squeaker from their best up for offer respect should be shown. They're maybe be some individuals who have benefitted from the poor turnouts of late and got themselves something that could turn out to be a bit special for £30 or so.Good on them Obviously some people have more money than others but I think when you see sales across here where fanciers are paying hundreds of pounds for a pigeon its a tad ridiculous.A lot of guys I've seen, won't mention names, seem to enjoy the attentio when they are in the high profile bidding wars-paying these large sums. You'll save a lot of money and have a nicer day out if you approach the fancier yourself. Entire clearance sales are perhaps a bit different.
  8. Aye if your pigeons are happy at home its more than half the battle
  9. There was a pigeon that was 3rd open Nantes flying into my section that built a nest on top of the fanciers sh**e pale as he'd left it in the hut after scraping the doos haha
  10. Good toss this morning from Elsrickle way alongside a few hundred Lanarkshire doos
  11. Got the cock that was missing back around 8 this morning minus a tail and with a couple of talon punctures. 100% returns and think most folk are not too far away either Hats off to Aye Ready in his first race as controller
  12. Few minutes off the pace today Our club winner is in around 1127 with 3 flying 62miles from the Northwest fed Coldstream lib. I'm still waiting on 1 from 19 but the doos were battering in after the first drop. All in all a good opening day to the season
  13. Let battle commence haha
  14. Yeh the visibilty is very good here as well.Chilly wind but its getting weaker I think
  15. When do the Glasgow and Renfrewshire doos start racing?? this week or next? There may not be any racers going into or over your neck of the woods the morra?? The usual training batches but they'll be around every day til the end of September
  16. If you are only racing young birds this year would it not be an idea for you to help the man out with his old birds?? Would certainly put you off on the right foot and maybe keep you away from some of the pitfalls with your own doos
  17. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_wind.html Have found this site to be spot on all week.
  18. Have heard of some people who don't feed their pigeons at all on basketting day.
  19. They go mental for hemp. You can get wild doos eating it out your hand in two or three days once they have a taste for it. Need to be careful with titbits and youngsters though if you want them to stay in good feather. Too much of a good thing can be bad.
  20. When did you innoculate yer doos for PMV?? Have noticed a pattern with a lot of the guys who are having bad hatches and poor ybs in the nest. They seem to jag very close to the doos being paired.Think you have to be careful with Nobivac especially-its recommended you wait six weeks til after jagging before thinking about pairing your pigeons.
  21. Coldstream this weekend for the Northwest Fed. 60miles to the shortest flying lofts. Dusted down the "Coldstream Express" and gave her a wee talking to.Hoping to be Coldstream King two years in a row in Avonbrig
  22. Not to worry its sorted now
