  2. Cheers Tooshy Boy
  3. This doos come in the last hour. Anybody got any details?? cheers Lewis
  4. Assuming the guys that have proposed this aren't the ones taking the first 5,6,10,12 etc. Putting a restriction on the ammount of doos fanciers can time is not really something I've ever agreed with. Its usually aimed at one or two fliers in the club who will still take the first 2 and have many before the fanciers proposing this have there first arrival or am I wrong??Is this case different??
  5. No rules as such here. They've got a wee cage attached to the hut so they've went out there through their own choice since perching age.The bowls always open along with old birds so again they went out there when they chose to.
  6. Some folk sit them on the board in a cage or have an aviary attached to the loft they can put them in. Some people even just sit them on the lander. Depends what kinna board/trap you have as well??Or indeed if you want them out that early
  7. I was right not to go Would've been coming back empty handed
  8. Wasnae at the sale so didnae see the birds-nae mare doos fer me .A lot I quite fancied from the list was 23.How much did this fetch??
  9. Aye I cannae pick ma nose We've a secret weapon though-one of my old clubmates watches our doos on a Saturday,he does a better job at picking the poolers spending a couple of hours at the hut on a raceday than I do all spending all week wi them Hes teaching me his ways though
  10. Best of luck I'll stick with cock I pooled near enough every race last season Him and his nestmate were rarely out of the first first five home to the loft last season.Got another two brothers and a sister in the race team this year so hope they can make picking a pooler even harder
  11. Obviously as the season goes on it gets a bit easier but with the first race often being on the unpredictable side how do you do it?? Pick an old favourite?? Do you shut your eyes and have a stab at yer sheet with a pen?? Do you pay a lot of attention as to how birds are coming from training??and what do you look for round the loft??
  12. Took 30 their first toss of the year just over 15miles. Let them go in teams of six.Upon letting the first six go a batch of around 40 flew overhead so they ended up getting a bit of a better toss than the others All home so no complaints.Should get them a decent distance tomorrow looking at the forecast
  13. Fast day today by the looks of things. Had some away training and they were as high as the heavens when they arrived.
  14. Some folk will have gotten themselves a bargain .You'd struggle to get youngsters for £45 each going to a good flier direct today.
  15. Were they going for good money John??
  16. Spoilt for choice looking at that sales list.Should be a few smashers
  17. Is there not plants you can get that deter cats?? You could sprinkle some cresote or petrol around where you think its entering. Don't know the people concerned but if their cat dissappears and they suspect its you they could make things a bit uncomfortable for you come race time.Washing out, weans playing fitba in the garden etc etc.
  18. It is Avonbrig club we race in I'm sure some of the members could answer that for ye I've never eaten racer masel
  19. Guy I know uses it and he always makes it up the night before adding it to the drinkers-which are changed daily.Think he uses it most days during racing. Don't think there is a right or a wrong way to do it.Have seen guys submerge a crusher into the drinker and crush the garlic into the clean water.
  20. paper bags I was always told they should feel like a meringue
  21. I can't for the life of me remember where I read it but is there not a type of pigeon that flys for hours on end round home-through darkness?? Fanciers used to make sport of it to see whos could fly the longest.Sure they would fly for 18 plus hours at a time etc.
  22. One of the best long distance fliers in our fed was in the habit of timing pigeons in the dark. A lot of guys thought they used to fly along the river which runs from the East coast right to his loft but we will never know for sure
  23. Does Herman Beverdam not have doos he calls the "Night Flyers" ?? Albeit its in a different context to this
  24. All depends what you think of swearing really. EVERYBODY does it at somepoint. Some people use it in there daily conversation and don't think anything of it.Other people only use it when there angry or when they hurt themselves-so they associate it with this and therefore view people who swear as angry or agressive when really its just the way they speak generally. each to their own
