  1. Could be wrong but I'd heard the Avranches winners were down through Jock Watson of Kirklistons stuff Top racing either way
  2. Watched this dilemna unfold the last couple of days Widowhood and natural both have there pros and cons and there are some of the finest widowhood and natural fliers in the country active on PB who I'm sure would be more than willing to help you. Understandably you'll be raring to go but if I was in your shoes the man I'd be asking about getting your feet on the ground is Jim Cullen!! :)I'm lead to believe your pretty pally with him All the best whatever you decide to do though George and once you start it stick with it
  3. No doubt in my mind Louella have some of the finest pigeons about. The closer you can get the apples to the tree though the better.Think I'm correct in saying their bloodlines are responsible for one of this years SNFC winners They've had loads of great doos breeding there. When you see the number of Busschaert champions alone they've housed its frightening. I was friendly with an nice old fancier from Kirkliston he in turn was really friendly with The Great Jimmie Hamilton. He told me that Louis bought Nan's Pride under the condition that when she stopped laying she'd go back up to Kennoway with Jimmie. There was supposedely a time when Jimmie Hamilton went down to LPW and when he entered the section of pens that Nan's Pride was in she started parading and going mental because she heard his voice
  4. Beech wood chippings are the boys
  5. John McNeil,Broxburn
  6. Boiled doo egg on toast....DONE!!
  7. Midge Ure hahahahaha
  8. Maybe the public don't talk about it that often . I think what puts off most people is the fact that alomost every competetive match England play in opens with Martin Tyler or John Motson stating how West Ham won England the cup on that oh so fateful day in Wembley
  9. Sir Alex Ferguson,Duncan Ferguson and John Smeaton
  10. Aye Beckham Schmeckham we all know the best player of that generation, unmatched for his technical prowess on the pitch, is Emile Heskey
  11. You know what they used to say-Busschaerts are like A***holes everybody has at least one . Not so much the case anymore but there are still a few guys swear by them and get results to boot.Palmer was without doubt one of the great Busschaert men.Not sure how close the Louella birds will be to actual performance pigeons but if you do get them I'd like to hear how they treat you
  12. I went through a phase of putting out a warm bath for them.It came to an end when they decided they liked the cold puddle 6ft away better
  13. Any body confined to the house and in need of a wee morale boost??Get yourself in front of the tele(channel 4 +1) for a spot o' John Wayne
  14. It was another waist level snow mission to get to the doos this morning Will this snow ever go away??
  15. Have heard of guys who pair up this early that extend their birds daylight hours.do you have lights in the loft??
  16. Am I correct in saying that some Nationals on the continent take fees on a race by race basis??Meaning if you are a member of a governing body whos rules apply to the national you can take each race as it comes(if you have doos ready at the time etc)instead of paying a high one off subscription and maybe only going to one or two of the races
  17. Was the 11th Open Rennes Wilson Noble's "Black Rocket"??Do you what time she was timed in??
  18. Theres doos from the east won in the west.Theres doos from the west won into the east.Theres doos from the south won in to the north etc.etc.Theres doos from Holland,Belgium,Ireland,Australia that have won into Scotland.Bottom line is theres good yins and not so good yins. The good yins have a tendancy to win the hands of good fanciers no matter where they are located. The East fanciers send a lot more birds to the 500 mile races than the West lads nowadays though when in the past it was the other way round.
  19. The only way really to find out if a pigeon is a good racer is to send it to races in the best order you can You could handle every national winner thats alive today and they're be very few of them that are the same.Theres big winners, theres wee winners, theres nice looking winners, theres ugly winners.Theres even winners that some "experts" would have had in the bin long before they saw the inside of a race basket.
  20. yer cheery the night bigda
  21. You hoping to race natural your first season?? if so I think it'd be smart if you built an 18 x 6.Two ends between 6 and 7 feet with a central corridor splitting them of 4 or 5 feet.Old birds on the left young birds on the right. You could also split cocks and hens this way in the winter months if you wished.
  22. Doo dance tonight
  23. The drinkers were frozen over this morning. Its a nice enough day though. Took the dog over the open cast earlier-first few flakes of snow.It only lasted a minute but wouldn't be surprised to see it back again later
