  1. John Proctor's "McFly" and "Lucky Jim" are two that have impressed me very much in recent times.Only pigeons into Scotland on the night from 600+ miles. The fact the birdages are so small makes it all the more impressive when you think of the work those pigeons had to do on their own. Into my Fed "Flora Macdonald" the Anderson Bros 1939 Rennes winner is a bit of a legend. Into whats known today as Section D you'd have to hand it to Jock Watson's 1975 Avranches winner on the night. Or Stuart Peaston's 1st and 2nd Avranches on the night Got to take your hat off to any National winner really whilst still taking into account it may not be the races best performance
  2. Work to pay the loft manager
  3. Think one of the main reasons for paying funny money to big names or buying any fashionable strains is if you are looking to sell pigeons. You could probably get pigeons to do as well that you got for a very small percentage of the price,or indeed free providing of course they're good healthy pigeons and from a genuine fancier
  4. If money was no object I think I'd buy John McNeil
  5. My cousins grandad claims to be the man who introduced french toast into Bulgaria
  6. Its something I'll need to look into in the coming months Got too many doos to fit into a Ford fiesta next year
  7. Heres the man to speak to about getting me a van for next year to toss the doos
  8. A few people will share this opinion Some people have been customers for years and never had any issues with their Sky account.Obviously your not one of them Theres a lot of guidelines and procedures in place that the advisors and managers can't over ride regardless of if they feel any empathy or sentiment towards a customers circumastances and whether they agree with them or not. Thats the world we live in though .The world is ran by the man-your TESCOs,Skys,McDonalds etc. Fair enough they provide a few jobs and oppurtunities for people but its at the expense of thousands of local longterm establishments and small businesses
  9. Work for Sky customer services and technical. Its afwy gid like
  10. Wouldn't imagine its much to worry about. They eat more when they are moulting. With yours being youngsters I'd imagine they're through the worst of the body moult and pretty far up the wing?? Assuming they're not moulting as heavily they won't eat as much food. If they look fine and well they probably are
  11. heres the rough percentages for the KBDB figures.Would imagine the Brittish fancy would be fairly similar with maybe a slightly higher percentage in the 60-70 category??? 70+ = 42% 60-70= 21% 50-60= 16% 40-50= 12% <40= 9%
  12. I'm 20,21 in February its a good idea to try and find out the age group percentage of the fanciers in Britain Don't think it'll be achieved through this poll though I could count on one hand the number of members in my club under 40 and they don't use basics. The majority of members over 40 either don't own a computer, aren't interested in computers or can't use a computer. In my area though I'd say the members for the most part are over 50 basically the figures provided will be a reflection but the poll won't
  13. Excellant videos George
  14. Watched some of the old "simply the best" videos the other day.A lot of top Scottish lofts on them including the great Dale Newcombe. Found it quite interesing to find out that he didn't give his pigeons nest bowls just provided them with materials to build their nest wherever they wanted in the box or on the floor.
  15. If you can feed them at sort of waist level this is a good way to get them used to you.If you have a titbit they start taking it from your hand in no time. Another thing is when they are at the perching age go in just as its getting dark and play with them when they are on the perches. They'll be reluctant to leave the perch due to the darkness setting in so they'll let you touch them etc. so they gets used to your hands.after a couple of nights of this they begin to peck you and fight back. Long and short of it though the more time you spend with them the friendlier they'll be Theres always one or two that are a bit timid compared to the rest but as long as they are not afraid of you theres nothing to worry about.
  16. John McNeil gifted me a blue cock when I first started with the doos.He was an excellant bird was first to the loft near enough everytime he was raced. He was supposed to be for stock so I stopped him after his yearling season and he didn't dissapoint . He was a Hartog/Busschaert cross, the Hartog coming through Alastair Kerr's stuff.

  19. The Delbars used to be all the rage.Right good doos for a hard day.The good ones aren't too easy to find today but they are at the base of many of the top "strains" and I'm sure a lot of guys will still have some cuttin about
