My 2nd pigeon yesterday at 12:34 was a young hen. When she went in the loft she lay in the corner looking shattered. Right now she has been flying solo for about 35 mins and disnae look like landing anytime soon. How the hell does this happen ?? The rest of them are relaxing after being up with her but she's carried on. This particular hen was bred by a good friend of mine and was weaned to my loft. She has never really got into the loft routine the way the others have and has sat out several times over the months. Any theories as to why she behaves like this apart fae she disnae like Me !!

I put ETS rings on my Ybs the first year we used them. That was the Last time I done it. Rubbers are perfectly acceptable tae get a velocity and if ye manage yer team right it disnae cost ye more than a few seconds and that's only against the ETS guys who can manage theirs well too. Jmo

IMO it's all instinct. When finally realising they're not making it home they look for company to join because nature makes their gregarious side kick in. They then stay with the streeters because of safety in numbers and availability of food. When it comes to pairing up time the following year they discover there are no empty nest sites so they then head home to mate and rear Ybs. Or they get a nest site and never go home because they're getting everything they need to fulfill natural instinct.

Seen this being used in a Belgian fanciers video. Canny say I seen and cons but the pros are that they are in large pieces that prevent you carrying a mess out of the lift on the soles of your shoes. They look super absorbent as well keeping the place dry. Had forgotten all about it until I seen this thread but at the time I fancied giving it a go.
