  1. 3 tunes and ye've emptied the place Michael, come back Andy Burgess, PLEASE
  2. The late Great Andrew Deans advised me many years ago to leave well alone when dealing with broken legs, just make them comfortable and let nature take its course. I listened to the man and he was right, if left alone they heal up pretty well on their own. Just back down from the lofts, was 2 short earlier but now all present and correct, 41 + the patient.
  3. Cheers Brian, if ma old hen stays as keen on her nest 'til next week the way she is now, i might actually have something worth Celebrating this season Ps. Yb's 4th/8th OUCH!! I'd need tae get the Valium out if i had tae wait that long.

Well done the big man, been a great dooman all his days and was no end of help to Lanarkshire when we were in the process of getting our new motors. A perfect Gent who deserves everything he gets from our sport

Funny ye point that out as i had to set our Unikon ETS clocks Manually at the Ypres marking station, well i got Help to set it manually to be more accurate
  7. Blank week for us Brian, Clermont next week with the SNFC then Yb's start on the 27th. Its just no a Saturday when there's nae race
  8. Ave no doubt it will be required again, good thing is i have a proper stitching set fae a hospital theatre with the hook shaped needle, it makes stitching quite straight forward.

Best of luck to all PB members who have sent. Given some of the race points i might just add ma name to the membership too, IF THEY'LL HAVE ME lol
  10. And WHAT??? Danny, the fking shoots have been here as long as pigeon racing and there are LESS of them now too. I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT COS ONE OF MA BEST MATES IS A GAMEKEEPER IN DUMFRIES and they're struggling tae get numbers tae even call them proper shoots, grouse wandering everywhere should tell ye that.
  11. I'll be letting my lot back out at 5pm'ish. No a good idea locking them oot awe day, that'll be a contributing factor in their laziness, and sure won't cure it !!
  12. Aye catch 22 right enough Robbie, knowing she is breeding winners too is a dilemma, and i think maybe on this occasion i would be agreeing with the older guys. imo the Breeders are the hardest to come by so i would be inclined to leave her at home next year but regardless of what ye decide i wish ye atvb with her. Cheers.
  13. Good on her for showing the guts to home after being injured, am sure ye'll get her right again next year Robbie and hopefully she gets a fair crack at it. atb John
  14. That's what i'll be doing Tam, providing there is room of course but i reckon there will be room to do it.
  15. It actually looked more like an injury from a house Aerial than wires or BOP because the gash was such a clean cut, with the broken leg on top of it my thinking is it was an Aerial, but i suppose i'll never know for sure. Ps. What time are ye letting yours out at night Higgy?
  16. Cheers Gareth.
  17. Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't nearly all of Scotland suffer 2 weeks running, the weeks we (Lanarkshire) were at Newark and Leicester??? I lost 7 pigeons from an average sized team in the first 5 races of the program, 6 of them (mix of Yearlings and 2 yr olds) were in a basket for the first time this season. If your own losses in those first 5 races were SIGNIFICANTLY worse than mine then you ought to spend more time at the mirror. jmo. To point the finger of blame away from yourself is futile and ruinous to reputations, YOUR reputation that is!!!
  18. Just seems to get more difficult for the doos year on year Walter, between Mobile phone masts, wind farms and now new Pylons en route. Our sport is slowly but surely getting more difficult by the year, but i live in hope that Eventually we will have teams who become used to these hazards and the hazards have a lot less of an impact on our doos.
  19. I think Gareth called it right with Max of 35 per crate for training.
  20. Having paired up late this year my youngsters are really just starting to roam now. This morning they returned split up and i noticed one was bleeding from its foot, whilst trying to get it and the others in a blue Ck hit the loft like a stone, one leg so badly broken i canny splint it and a gash about 3 inches long along its side. Put about 14 stitches in the wound, even if i say so my self i done a rather tidy job of it too, will keep him in a nest box until he can put weight on his broken leg again, i suspect it'll be 4/6 weeks for that, so he'll no be training or racing this season at least. The other was only a superficial wound to its foot so should be able to carry on with the rest of the team.
  21. TBH, am finding both ob's and yb's a bore this last 2 years, However am sure the pendulum of joy will swing back both our ways when our turn comes round again.
  22. John Dougal, Aldo Thompson (before he started driving the Newmains van) , Hugh (Shug) Harkin, All 3 fanciers have won out of turn in club and Federation racing. Winning multiple trophies in both organisations and on both routes. Common Denominator??? Training out of CRAWFORD, regardless of race points. Ask them if ye don't believe me and while yer at it ask them were their losses worse from Crawford or Meldons, bet you London to an Orange neither Lib site was any better than the other. Another thing while am here, there will NEVER be 50 doos in one crate on our transporters for training or otherwise and i don't care who that upsets. We're no into cruelty to birds and imo 50 would be just that...... For once my opinion/position counts here !!! Gareth, could you post pick up points and approximate times for us please. Cheers John.
  23. My point was not what happened to the Rd Pd Ck, it was the fact no one remembers these doos, but top our fed in the Ob program and everyone takes notice. The value in winning an Ob race in Lanarkshire far outweighs the Yb wins. Mind these are JMO!!
  24. A would still pick the Old bird win. About 1995 or thereabouts, we had a young Red Pd Ck that won 3 races and almost single handedly won the Yb average. First race as an old bird it went down like a stone and not another fancier will remember that doo. Top the Fed (Lanarkshire) in the Old bird racing and everyone will take note of it and remember it too. My experience also tells me the Old bird winner is most likely to breed you something handy too, but not the Yb winner.
  25. Personally an Old bird win every time. Yb racing is about education to me not results. jmo.
