REDCHEQHEN
Watched the BBC programme yesterday - and this morning My other half was in Ypres 3 years ago - and witnessed the playing of 'The Last Post' played every evening at 8.00pm at the Menin Gates since 1928 I don't understand why there was no commemorative race this year The UNC Winner of Ypres in 2014 named their winner 'Passchendaele Poppy'. Valiant Fifer
Watching it last night and today the soldiers stories from the West Flanders battlefield are gruesome. A war of attrition and wholesale slaughter. How on earth the surviving soldiers ever got through that god only knows because its well beyond me. The pain and suffering those men had to endure was unbelievable. We should never ever be allowed to forget them. Please remember their sacrifice! glencameron
The figures and facts make grim reading and it's a very important point in history to be remembered. On the pigeon side we can do many wrongs but our friendship and respect for the city Ypres can be admired within the fraternity and beyond.
