This little hen amazed me on Saturday because she was entered in the Fed race from Saintes 508 miles and landed after 14 hrs 40 mins flying time on the day. What is more amazing is she was weaned on the 6th August 2016.

Well done Michael, can you tell us more about the bird, breeding, training as yb/yearling. How it was set up , nest condition, how many races etc,etc cheers Del

She was only loft flown during the winter months and was allowed to rear a young bird in march April before being separated but paired to another hen later in the year and was sitting about 10 days on basketting for this race. She was trained about two weeks before her first race in the middle of April. Then sent with over 100 other birds when she came home within the first 5 birds for about 6 inland races. Then sent to the Fed water race about 322 mile, two weeks later Messac BBC 389 miles which was a hard race and she returned during the week. Then some private training with one inland race one toss at 95 miles then into this last race.

Once she returned I took pictures of her and realised she had not molted any flights and some body feathers so she has her nest feathers still.

I only sent her because the man who bred her from an Eddie Janssen cock paired to one of my hens said send her. Her dam was off an Alwyn Hill cock who was paired to a dtr ( a gift egg) of 6 times Tarbes 660 miles who won the certificate of merit this year after flying this race 6 times winning 3 top 200 open positions.

So she is being paired to her great uncle who is half brother to the merit award winner for some late breds for stock.

outstanding, thanks, one last question, did you treat all your August bred ybs the same way or was it only her?
